Default Have you ever replaced your older steelbooks?

Over time, some steelbooks in my collection have developed small paint chips, even though they've been kept in plastic slipcases and have been taken care of when being opened. They have no dents. I'm thinking about getting fresh ones to replace them with though.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has replaced any SB's that have suffered over time, and what everyone's limits are in terms of damage on their older steelbooks.

I've never replaced a steelbook b/c of damage. Only time I replace one is if a much nicer version, imo, comes out such as replacing the old BB V For Vendetta with the Zavvi version (only time it's happened so far). Otherwise, if they get chipped or what not, I just let it go. I figure it's going to happen eventually to them all anyways so don't think much of it.

I can say I've never had a problem with any steel degrading over time on me. I've kept every single steel I own in polybags and shells, and I periodically check them over.

Had to replace "Edge of Tomorrow" since loaning it out to a certain family member, he knows who he is, with a VGB shell, and somehow still managed to get 2 sharp dents on the sides & a very visible scratch on the back that wasn't there before...last time I loan the steel as well, next time, just toss the blu-ray in a plastic case.

Do yourself a favor and get some of these...I will lend out a movie but never the packaging.

Nop, never. And i guess i'll never do. I keep them safe and fresh, and i manage them with extreme cautions, and when it's possible using soft cotton gloves. I would replace them in case of accident or upgrade, but i believe they will resist several years in mint conditions.
