Looks good! Glad I inspired ya.

I think it's interesting your scanner caught the finish on IM3 like mine did. I ended up switching scanned because of that, and my at home scanner didn't lke the depth of the spines so they would come up blurry

That is pretty bizzare. Ill try re-scanning, sometimes i'll get a completely different scan. I swear my scanner has a mind of it's own. Then again scanners do tend to pick up things that are barely visible to the eye, but can be seen under certain light. And the whole printing on the back is totally misaligned too, could be part of the printing.

Nah, the yellowy waves are in the finish, notice mine go at a different angle than yours.

I also end up tweaking my scans in photoshop to try to get the colours as true as possible

Ok i gotcha, i cant see those waves at all even under bright lighting. They only show up in the scan. I imagine the light from the scanner see's it kinda like a blacklight will pick up certain things that arent visible to the naked eye. Weird.

It wasnt too bad really, about 6 hours divided up into a couple nights. But i had to rescan a bunch because sometimes they came out weird or too dark. I have an all in one scanner, copier, printer and it definitely has a mind of its own, i can scan a steel 3 times and get 3 different results, but they all ended up coming out decent though.
