So why do you love and collect steelbooks? What is it about them that is so appealing?

Cheers

They look better than the plastic blue case that's for certain.

I prefer the quality compared to the crappy blue plastic cases and the artwork

I like that they are more substantial than the plastic amarays. They can also utilize the whole cover space for artwork as well, in addition to other effects such as embossing and debossing.

Pretty much every response posted is what i feel about steelbooks. In itself, a steelbook is art. The artwork on them is usually different that the amaray release and the inside art contains a clip of the movie. Which reminds me of many years ago, when you went to the movies and every movie poster contained stills of scenes that will appear in movies.

i also want to stress Steel > Plastic

PS. I love people's reactions when they see my movies and they asked me where did i find the steelbook and why do their copy does not look like my copy of (insert movie title)

I don't particularly *love* steelbooks, but I concede they look nicer than the regular packaging. For practical considerations, I only get them because I hope they have a better resale value for when I get rid of them or trim down my collection.

I like them for the same reason i like Digibooks, Neocases, and boxed sets. I may watch a movie for a few hours, maybe a few times a year if I really love it, but I have to see that case every single day.

It's a way to satisfy the collector-geek in me and to show love for a favorite movie by spending extra money for it..especially if I already own the movie in a regular case.

I love steelbooks because the artwork tends to be better than the normal releases, the embossing can add something to the packaging I like, and they just stand out better on the shelf than a standard case. Plus when it comes to movies I'm a bit of an addict. If you're going to be addicted to something you could do much worse!

The artwork, and there is just that something that little bit extra appealing about them.
Also if i really like the film i would pay that extra bit of money for it.
There also nice when on display i have seen some really nice ones framed together,it really does show them off well.
