Was very tough to not watch last night, as I have done with every season: I wait for the BD release. So this penultimate season can't be released soon enough!

Damn, already? Glad to get a release date! I figured it would be released early again due to the next season airing later again.

One of those releases is clearly a Steelbook given the listing.

Not to judge, but any particular reason why? The HD streams look pretty great each week imo

It's a combination of just having done it that way since S1, and how incredibly well done the BD releases have been. I did watch the S1 pilot on HBO, and knew right away this series was going to be pretty good, and would wait for the BDs.

I definitely get that. When i first got into the show, I saw that Season 3 was coming on blu-ray and saw that all 3 seasons would be $30. So I watched the first two episodes on HBOGO and loved them enough to buy the blus. I became obsessed and read the books shortly after.

Watching on blu is the best experience, but there's no way I could wait to watch it so I of course watch it live.

Trust me, it's not easy...at all!
But I've got a wide variety of other viewing material to hold me over. The increasingly hard part has been trying to avoid spoilers.

Both Amazon listings says steelbook!
Although I'm guessing one will change to the standard edition, which is already noted under the title on one listing.

I just noticed that. Yeah, one has to be the standard mislabeled.

Assuming that sticks, I'm guessing we will get a steelbook for S8 to complete the series. Great news!

I just hope the standard packaging is better than last season's. I keep my discs for Season 6 in a separate case because of the stacking.

Would be hilariously cruel if one of the retailers brought back the house sigil slipcovers after Season 6 didn't receive one.

Despite what all of my party thought was a disappointing premiere last night, seriously
[Show spoiler]it was so slow and just nothing but filler. So much stuff (characters, events) excluded from the books, but it's like the D&D don't care because fans will eat up whatever is put in front of them. Like instead of moving the war along, they'll instead film a montage scene of Sam literally cleaning up bowls of crap and dry-heaving and they know people will still tune in next episode. This wouldn't bother me as much, had this season not been reduced down to 7 episodes from it's normal 10.
... With all that said, DAY ONE PURCHASE.

i seriously hope, when the bluray releases that we get some cut that it will skip the ed sheeran scene. i absolutley loathed that scene.

i have nothing against the guy myself, but now that i heard his music it makes it even worse. he makes romantic teen tunes! how the hell can you be a knight, taken seriously, making romantic teen tunes and have a baby face to boot.

were is the make up? were are the scars?

mastadon , snow patrol making appearences that makes sense! but ed sheeran right in your face? that was one of the biggest troll jobs since last years ghostbusters.

if he was some minor guy on the background somewere fine. but no!!! i had to see this babyfaced knight filling up my whole screen! grrrrr

and the worst part is. that he does not even recognise it himself. he deletes his twitter account. why people are so mean? well WTF did you expect!

Well, I agree with all you said, but thinking about this, it doesn't bother me that much. My girlfriend told me "hey, it's Ed Sheeran" while watching the episode, and my response was: "Who the f-- is Ed Sheeran?" lol and then she reminded me of the song that I hate so much, but heh, I didn't even "knew" his face/name to begin with, so to me it is a guy as any other.

However, I think it was a really weird casting choice... Why would you cast a pop singer in the most popular TV series? To me it's the same craziness as casting Prince in Batman (1989) or Vanilla Ice in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! (I'm excluding David Bowie from Labyrinth, as he actually had a real part in the movie, and not only a singing cameo).

It was done as a surprise for Maisie Williams which is sweet, IMO.

That scene was actually quite good. I don't like Ed Sheeran but, he did a fine job. If a 5 second cameo bothers you then I don't know what to say to you. I guess stop watching because it sounds like you're bothered by minor things.

It's not really bothering me that Ed Sheran is in the show, I don't even know him!!!

But, I just don't want GOT to become a "Cameo of the Week" kind of show! They never did this before, so why beginning now?
