Good Lord man, it's worse than I thought!!

280 Hz to 13.3k Hz at ±10.5 dB

That's for the satellites in their $1,300 Acoustimass rubbish.

Absolutely pathetic. 280Hz at - 10.5dB?

That gives new meaning to the word GARBAGE. You're better off with the friggin' WHITE VAN.

The "sub" - 46 Hz to 202 Hz at ±2.3 dB

Blech - these test figures are from Sound and Vision as well.

Bose is just an wasy out for people who have no idea.

They sound "good enough" to us but are amazing to the dinks and they look so pretty. And let's face it (prepare for BLAZING sarcasm) it is all about what a speaker LOOKS like that matters.

They will never go away and I don't mind, because whenever I come across a dumb little bunny who wants advice...but...doesn't REALLY want advice...I just blow them off and say "Okay...go with the Bose you saw on that tv commercial." and when they do, they are usually happy drowning in their audio ignorance and I look like the savior anyway.

I have never even thought about buying a Bose system but I did purchase a pair of 101's and a pair of 201's back in 1992. I have had them ever since in my home theaters and they sound great. As long as they keep working I will not replace them. To each his own. We can find people to bash every product out there, but it doesn't make what they say totally true. Also let me say I have tried to blow these things by maxing them out. They hold their sound very well, no distortion or loss of sound. So like I said, to each his own. People can say Bose suck, that's their opinion, but I just don't think you can make a blanket statement like that about any brand. Just my 2 cents.

Bose marketing is so good that it helped cover up the the inflation of thing my Dad is trying to talk me into auditioning loud speakers I found auditioned B&W Loudspeaker loud speakers that will blow out my windows for $1600 for a pair and if I cranked them I would blow my self into the neigbours car!

They had a poll of people who like bose and who doesn't belive me bose did not fare to well.

I have a Pioneer Elite receiver and Sony speakers. I hope to up grade to Paradigm speakers in 1 or 2 years.

Although if I was disgustingly wealthy I would want a Linn Audio Pre Amp and the decoder, and Totem speakers.

Linn for Amp and Pre Amp: http://www.linn.co.uk/home
Totem for speakers: http://www.totemacoustic.com/ca/en/

Why do you care? It's OTHER PEOPLES MONEY. How would you like this....Pioneer sucks. had one and threw it out and bought a onkyo. pioneers speakers are totally horrible. There blu-ray players are over priced aluminum doored junk, with cheap guts in them. people who buy pioneer are idiots. (this is what you people sound like. enjoy what you use and quit bashing other people for their tastes.

If your Bose setup makes you happy, power to you. But you are seriously delusional if you think that they're as good as you think they are. Not one person I know who cares for good qulaity sound has a kind word to say about Bose and their over-priced products. And it's not about the price--many of the people who deride Bose's stuff--including many of the people here--can afford to spend what Bose charges (and more) on speakers. They just refuse to because there God knows how many other better choices.

The consumer can get a lot better speakers than you get for the price bose charges for their stuff.

people who buy bose are looking to buy an appliance they know the name has a lot of brand reconition and thats good enough for them. Most people ive know that have Bose hardly listen to them. ...Bose is smart enough to know that people who buy their products dont know what the specs mean hence they dont list them.
my bro in law in case... he has several big holiday parties and get togethers... he gets a few people in the living room... I hear all his friend's oooohs and ahhhass... you've got bose speakers you must be a serious enthusiest! look at all the equipment you have! funny how they make that comment after looking not listening. ( he has a 17 yr old technics 60 wattt per channel receiver with prologic,a cassette deck and a compact disc player so old it doesnt even have digital outputs.
last time i watched a movie at my sisters house my bro in law was telling me how great they are... then he asks why its so hard to hear dialog during a movie and he asks why his surround speakers rattle and crackle at louder volumes.

My brother in law was sold on Bose and I had to threaten him physically but this helps. It's much easier and less painful for him Thanks for finding that info.

Good reading. These guys, they sure know how to make money.
It bewilders me how they sell so well that people feel the need to write pages such as that. All anyone has to do is listen to a Bose setup, and they will know how terrible it is.

I once listened to a Bose demo at a consumer electronics exhibition. It was a dedicated Bose home cinema setup, everything set up exactly how they wanted it in an isolated demo room. It sounded terrible, beyond terrible, even. I don't know how anyone could walk out of there with any thought other than to never, ever, even think about buying anything made by Bose.

I believe about 4 pages ago (or maybe it was a different thread) someone recommended Cerwin Vega....... what surprised me, was that nobody jumped on him like they would have if he listed Bose....

Cerwin Vega makes a COUPLE of models that are decent..... albeit made in the 80's..... if you want to rock out a Frat house, CV's will fit the bill quite nicely however. (I have a whole set including the 15" sub in my basement..... they're used to rock music out while shooting pool etc...... sonically they're TERRIBLE)

I take the 2 floor-standers, (RE-30's) 12" subs, 3 ways I believe..... (hell I don't even care enough to check!) and hook them up in the back of my jeep when I go to Cleveland Browns games and tailgate...... RAIN OR SHINE.... again.... that's another good use for Cerwin Vegas
