Could he possibly have chosen something less interesting? I think not.

The more interesting filmmakers Netflix has working for them, the more I am upset that they don't do home releases of movies outside of the service so you can actually own them. Though I was able to buy a DVD SAG awards screener of Mudbound for like $9 on eBay, so that may be an option for some of their awards play movies.

Y’know, I like Guillermo (maybe a bit less than most, though) and I’m interested in whatever he’s doing but I’ll admit I was hoping he’d use that Oscar clout to revive At the Mountains of Madness.

Netflix is drawing bigger and bigger names with their apparent promise of total creative freedom. If I were Del Toro or Scorsese or Cuaron or Greengrass, I'd be tired of having to deal with suits.

Having said that, Pinocchio is hard to get excited about. Wouldn't blame any studio for passing on it, especially since Disney is almost certainly gonna have their own remake coming down the pipeline at some point.

Pinocchio is a dark story to begin with.

Kubrick/Spielberg's A.I. has already attempted it. Ridley's Scott's Blade Runner has similar theme. Chappie is pretty much Pinocchio. I think it is a story of all of us at one time or another when we are feeling neglected and deserted; plenty of that going around all over the world.

Looking forward to DT's take on the original story; no doubt it will be a visual feast.

Most of the stop motion animation I recall are darkish:
Coraline
Nightmare Before Christmas
Isle of Dogs
James and the Giant Peach (I think, not sure)
Kubo and the Two Strings
My Life as a Courgette
Corpse Bride

Not
Little Prince
Fantastic Mister Fox

DT's Pinocchio will fit right in.

Don't like Del Toro.
Don't like stop motion.

Thjs is co-written by Patrick McHale,so if you want to kind of know what you're getting yourself into watch his Over the Garden Wall. It's a masterpiece.

Del Toro adapting Pinocchio as a stop motion musical? That sounds amazing!

This is the only negative for me. I'd love to be able to own physical copies of some of these Netflix movies.

Of course he could have. He could always have signed up to do a Marvel, DC, or Star Wars movie.

Good. This isn’t meant for you. Let others who are excited for this enjoy it, then.

Black Panther, Wonder Woman, and Last Jedi were interesting. You’re ignorant.

Nice personal attack for no reason.

Did I ever say nobody should see this? Nobody should find any enjoyment in this? Please find my quote on that, I'd love to see it.
