Ultimately, it doesn't matter if she is playing "THE" Barbie or "A" Barbie. The fact that she is in the movie should be enough to make most people avoid it.

The only place this woman thrives is in terrible sketch comedy shows on TV. Even her stand-up comedy routines are terrible and riddled with plagarized jokes.

Can't stand her after I read about her joking about her infamous college exploits.

It's a good thing Ken's smooth. It's the only way he'd be safe around her.

Im not fan of Amy but I have no problem if she's in Barbieworld which has various body types in 2017. Y'all folks stuck on Farah Fawcett Barbie are behind the times.
And im sure Mattel and Barbie have some input on how this gets made.
Im pretty sure its gonna have her be accepted by the "mean girls" eventually, or maybe even flip it where the "classic" Barbie is actually the outsider. Some Bring it On stuff.

My issue with Amy isn't about her weight or looks. It has to do with the fact that her core identity as a comedian and entertainer is rooted in R rated explicit comedy. Nothing about her leads me to believe she's a good choice to lead a family friendly PG comedy aimed at giving young kids a female role model. Could she surprise me and end up great for the project? Of course! Just not my first choice.

I think its smart for both sides to cast a "dirty" comedian in a brand thats is perceived as clean.
Casting everyone from a safe/family friendly style leads you to Annie 2014. I'd say modernize Barbie and get a little dirt under your nails.

No need for profanity at all, but crossing over an actress thats not afraid to be "risque", brings Barbie out from the Jem and The Holograms demographic.

You can potentially get the Trainwreck, Bridesmaids, 20 somethings dates crowds.

I would never, ever sit through and watch anything with the repulsive Amy Schumer, who I can't stand. (No, the "repulsive" isn't about her looks, even though I don't find her attractive in the slightest). Unfunny, obnoxious... she's on the "do not watch" list right up there with Lena Dunham.

Plus, this just goes to show how stupid Sony is. You have an iconic property like Barbie to make into a movie... and this is the direction you go in? That's not knocking the actual premise, that's knocking the fact that it's a dumb premise for a Barbie movie. I'm sure kids love Amy Schumer and will buy up all those toys, the way they did with Ghostbusters.

You could probably get a good (animated) movie out of Barbie. We can probably write this off as another Sony failure right now.

I agree with this. I never picture her as someone who is in family friendly films or a role model.

Best Blu-ray Movie Deals
