Default Question with BOSE Acoustimass and reciever

Ok I could use a tech advice here in a bad way. So here goes and I hope someone can help me out.
I have a Sony Reciever (the one with all the options just a bit bulky) I have all speaker inputs (wire) and then I have a sub JACK. Now from past experience in order for my DD light to come on, i need to plug a sub into this jack. My problem is this. I have the bose acoustimass 10 system (yea some love it some hate it) I LOVE IT.
Anyhow, there is no jack on the back of the module and the only way of achieving this is to put another 100 dollars into a sub when I really do not need it because i live in an apartment and to be quite honest it is just to much. I will have people complaining all over the place. I live in FL and as you know we have a retired community down here so I am trying to stay away from buying another sub for money reasons and neighbor concerns. Is there anyway that I can send a signal from my bose (so called Bass Module to this jack or any type of Magyver hookup for the Sony to see that there are truly 5 speakers running and a sub? In short I have speaker inputs on my receiver (wire) front left center rears then a sub jack. In order to get 5.1 to light up i need something going into this jack to show I have a sub. With the way the bose system is setup you do not have a jack feature. Surely there must be a way to overide this. Maybe somoene has even been in the same boat. If I can get this solved I will for sure be bringing out the Sony receiver. Let me some real tech advice on what I can do here. If anything???? I desperate need.
Thanks
Corey

Don;t they use proprietary connectors?

I don't think it'll work

The receiver should show Dolby Digital based on the signal it's receiving from the player, not how many speakers it has connected. While there may be a separate group of lights showing what speakers are and are not connected, the audio format should again be based on the source.

But no . . . with Bose's connectors, there's no way of doing this that I know of.

I realize the lights should show from the players and receivers.
what i am asking is there anything i can do. i do not get the tru sony built 5.1 receiver model unless i have a sub into that jack. yes i can leave it unpluged and it will be 5.1 but the sound difference is at leas by 50%
But what I am gathering here is there is nothing to do but buy a cheap sub simply for the input jack. Maybe some of you are just not understanding what I am saying and you would have to look at it.
I called bose anyhow and you cannot do it. so i guess ebay here i come for a sony sub

the speakers are suppose to be connected to the base module. from there there is a special connection of wires that go to the receiver that includes a connection for the sub. so the receiver will see the sub.

I have a Sony AVR. On my receiver I am able to turn off the subwoofer. Once it's off it should turn on the light for any 5.1 source. Hopefully yours is the same. If you think your bass is a bit light you could consider a small sub... but otherwise you should be able to get your receiver to work properly without hooking up a sub.

If you could tell me what model Sony receiver you have I might be able to offer some more help...

This is correct, you should have a ribbon with a computer type plug at one end (acoustimass), and speaker wire ends and sub jack (rca plug for sub pre-out) to connect to reciever.

Hey thanks.... I have the Sony STR-De635. I have the acoustimass set up now correctly for my BR and cable as well as the upscale samsung dvd player.
I have my speakers all set to large and on the samsung BR I have LFE off and all speakers set to large. Same as the receiver.
Is there anyone who has the single cube acoustimass system that could tell me what audio settings they use for this? Such as the Front Center and Rear db, KHZ and such?
