Yeah, I am actually testing a Intimus 6c and comparing it to a Paradigm cc390 right now. I am trying to decide btwn the two. So far I like the Intimus, but I am giving both 2 weeks. By the way Big Daddy, thanks for the recommendations on the speakers. My fronts (Emptek) and the Aperion are suggestions you have made to me directly and indirectly (you answering someone else's questions). You make very informative suggestions. I am really enjoying the Empteks and, as I said, the Aperion looks to be my new center (we shall see... keeping an open mind). I also like having speakers that are not mainstream. So again, thanks for the wisdom.

Back to the topic, how do you compare the "sawtooth" or BFA type connector to the popular spring type (like monoprice).

I ran into this discussion on AVS forum and some members have said the connectors from http://www.nakamichiplug.com/ or http://namashop.com/ (same company I think) are better than the ones found on ebay.

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1117372

I may take the plunge on the Nakamichiplug.com version.

Thanks for the compliments.

I don't believe that banana plugs make a difference in sound quality. They are for convenience. The spade connectors I mentioned above give you the best and tightest connections.

I know it doesnt affect sound quality (unless it is a BAD connector), but I want something that I can change around easily. Despite being the most secure, spade connectors isn't the most convenient when changing or moving equipment. Have you (or anyone) tried the sawtooth design?

I have regular banana plugs and spade connectors. I also use bare wires for a couple of older speakers with spring loaded inputs.

On some banana plugs, the part that is bowed out consists of 4 separte metallic parts with small gaps between them. You can use a small screwdriver and stretch them out so that they fit more tightly. I have done that on a few Nakamichi banana plugs and the Behringer amplifier. They were too loose and that fixed the problem.

well after a few days searching various forums, the consensus is the sawtooth or BFA style provides a tighter contact vs the regular banana plugs. $23 shipped for 24 might as well try them. Was more worried that it is an international ship, but I can always file a claim w/ paypal. Will give a mini review when I get them.

Default "Nakamichi" Saw Type Plug Review

I received my order of "Nakamichi" plugs. They are so much better than the monoprice plugs. I wrote a mini review:

Oh, and I included pictures.

I just bought some Banana Plugs for my set from Amazon.

I dont exspect any sound enhancement, just solid connectivity.

There are nine diferent types of Banana/non-babana Plugs on the Monoprice web site alone. What should I buy?
http://www.monoprice.com/products/se...d=banana+plugs

Why so many types?

I don't like the open screw type banana plugs either and use Nakamichi plugs instead.

I have "Nakamichi" plugs (did a review few posts back). They are great. But I am pretty sure they are NOT official Nakamichi. But hey they work well.

No need to apologize. I posted my mini review of the "Nakamichi" plugs in my HT thread. I got the BFA or "saw" type plugs, and they have a much larger and more secure contact than the ones I got from MP. Also the silver jacket on these plugs are not conductive unlike MP.
