yeah, already talked to them this morning and they are not sure if they are actually coming in yet... fingers crossed.

i think i have enough room around the fronts to be able to pull the plugs out... posted new pix of the speakers.

Try www.wwstereo.com, they should have the RC-LCR too. Let them know that you can get it at vanns.com for that price (if they don't have it about the same price) to see if they will match it, I know they have the RC-50s and RC-70s at the same price as vanns.com, so I would think so.

I would check for you but at home I have dial up and cannot load that website.. I find that my speakers sound best about 18 inches away from the wall.

wwstereo.com does not have them listed. i found one locally, little more expensive. i am also going to be re-hooking up the record player so i will give that a listen on 2 speakers and will def let you know.

so, i got my RC-30's on saturday and hooked them up (took pix that will be posted shortly). they really make a lot of difference in the sound. as you can see from my old pix didnt have much in terms of "quality" speakers.

anyway, the rc mini center is not coming. couldnt get it in rosenut so i cancelled it. i might try to get the RC-LCR if i can find it in rosenut anywhere - credit card will have to take another hit :-).

question for you experts here... port plugs in or out on the rc-30's?
As much room as you have, I say definitely keep the port plugs out. They'll warm up with bass very nicely after the break-in period. When you get that RC-LCR in place, the sound field will be very smooth and should be broken in around the same time as the RC-30's. Congrats on the new purchase!

I believe the center is the eXL C. They're an older, discontinued line. You can still find some eXL speakers on eBay. The only eXL speaker I've ever owned was the eXL S8 sub, so I can't really speak to the quality or sound of the rest of the line. The sub was decent though. I used mine for a few years before trading up the the S10.3. As cheap as the newer lines are getting, you might consider looking into those (C Series, RC Series) as well.

looks like the RC-LCR rosenut is almost gone... just got notification from vanns.com that they will not be stocking it anymore and the only place left i could find on the net is Superior HiFi for $440. good thing i bought mine already. i think the rosenut finish was the nicest finish of these and they have to discontinue that

completely agree, glad you were able to find it before they were gone... its like the C-C100 center channel, hard to find item too and it is just black ash.

Finally a thread dedicated to Energy speakers. I love my energy take classics and when I upgrade in the future I'm staying with the Energy brand

Default S10.3 on sale now, compare to F12 and PA-120

Hello all. This is my first post. I am new to HT. I have recently bought the Pioneer VSX-919AH-K, Polk Monitor 70s, Polk CS2, and Polk Monitor 30s for surrounds. I have not yet bought the sub.

When asked which sub to buy, most people say eD, HSU or SVS. However, as you probably know, the Energy S10.3 sub is on super sale right now for $200 shipped, far less than the other oft-mentioned subs. I believe that, when comparing subs to decide on which one to buy, that you should compare a sub to other similarily priced subs. Surely the SVS PB12 outperforms the S10.3, but, given the current sale price, the PB12 is three times the price of the S10.3.

So I'm wondering how the S10.3 compares to the oft-mentioned subs in the $200 price range such as the Bic F12 (the H-100 replacement) or the PA-120.

Thanks for your input.

The S10.3 is actually a very good sub, it is pretty accurate and can get nice and deep, I would Definetly get one if it was $200 shipped. I would prolly pay more, but if I was gonna spend $350 then I would get the eD. But If I could find a Martin Logan Dynamo for $400 I would get that cause it is a fast and very accurate sub and 200 watts my butt, that thing is POWERFUL.

Thanks MrRoy. I saw that a few days ago too. I was getting my last speaker (C-50) to replace the final Sony one that I was still hanging onto as my 6th speaker. I now have a pair of B-1000s to use as surrounds if I blow a speaker....

ENERGY C-500 System Review

http://www.canadahifi.com/review39.php

After reading this review, this thread(a few times) & ENERGY Speakers website, I've decided to grab some of these before they're gone. I was originally looking at the Paradigm Monitor Series to pair with a recently purchased ED A2-300, until I learned of the Energy C Series.
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=232
The performance to price ratio was just to good to pass up, especially with the clearance sales at www.wwstereo.com & www.audioadvisor.com.

ordered two C-R100($79 each) & one C-C100($129) from W.W. Stereo

ordered two C-500($200 each) & two C-100($100/pr) from Audio Advisor

big thanks to callas01 for the sales links

Thanks Zippo, I am glad I could help.

I think you will be very happy with them too. I listen to more music now then ever before and mostly because of these speakers, plus I listen to songs I wouldn't typically go for either. IE, Tori Amos' Cornflake Girl(whatever its called) my wife has, has a piano in there that is just so well articulated that it is one of my favorite songs.

Give them about a week or so to warm up, also when you set them up, sit twice as far back as they are apart(energy recommends). If you can't(i cannot) then sit back an equal distance, if they are 7' apart, sit back 7'. I find that to be a good also.

For movies, clarity and detail were so much better then the Sony speakers i had been using.

I'll put your name on the first post. Congratulations.
