I stand behind my original point. I'm not interested in arguing with a stranger.

I work with PhD's. They often only see in absolutes because it kills their business. Never really has to do with seeking enlightenment which is like what a duscussion board should be about.

Most of the time it has to do with laying down a crap comment and saying...oh my but doesn't that smell wonderful? No sorry, it doesn't.

Looking at you comments, a "discussion" doesn't seem likely.

Instead of making a personal statement, how about just simply elaborating on your comment.

You stated that Google can't give you an accurate diagnosis. Wouldn't that depend on one's research?

Using a scientific method (as in gathering facts based on reputable sources) one can achieve very accurate medical conclusions without stepping foot in a medical facility.

I was once told by a specialist that I needed to take beta blockers to cure my condition. I stated, shouldn't I simply improve my diet? Guess what, 20 years later, my condition has never festered back up, and that is because I made active changes to my lifestyle. According to the doctor it was the only real way to solve the problem. Thankfully I got a second opinion (Google) and worked toward solving the issue the right way as opposed to a stop gap that can and does lead to more conditions.

To each his own, but I don't believe in absolutes.

All of your comments have been confrontational and that's why I've chosen NOT to continue talking with you. This will be my last post on this because I did have to comment on your example.

It's irrelevant to the conversation. If anything, it strengthens my point. You were in a specialist's office. Chances are, you were in another doctor's office before that and were diagnosed with this condition. That's my point. You had a medical condition that a doctor diagnosed. Everything you said after that has nothing to do with the point that I brought up. You went to Google for a second opinion about treatment options, not your diagnosis.

Only in your mind. You consider "confrontational", one that disagrees with you.

WRONG AGAIN.

When I had my condition it preceded a medical diagnosis. When I first went to the doctor they could not figure it out. And sent me home. After I researched then went to a second doctor after bringing the evidence and having a second attack, it was only then that they determined the condition. Of course I knew that before I went there and steered thrm to the obvious.

The same was true of a metal allergy. The "proof" was strapping metal to my back and putting me in misery for a week...to say yup its true. Of course the years of it burning my skin is not considered proof?

Sorry, but while you may think an opinion that differs from your own is something to skoff at, the truth is the truth.

The idea that you can't get an accurate diagnosis from Google is just flat out wrong. You can't strengthen a poor foundation.

The healthcare industry loved your ideas because they make quite a killing on this logic that only they know the answers.

My apologies to the original poster for this nonsense. If you do have OCD I hope you get some help to make it more manageable for you.

I generally look at the underside of any new disc I buy before sticking it in the player. I guess it can depend on how thoroughly you inspect it, but occasionally you will spot a slight scuff or even light scratch, but as has already been suggested, as long as it plays fine then it shouldn’t be a problem.

I guess if you encounter playback issues, then that’s the time to either seek a replacement or rebuy if absolutely necessary.

The other poster was suggesting a way to help by researching condition which was very reasonable.

You objected and stated there is only one way to get help which is pay for medical intervention.

Yes that is nonsense and I hope that was what your admitted error was about. It takes humility.

I apologize if I stated your error in a way that offended you.

As I've already said, I've moved on. I suggest that you do the same and let this thread get back on track.

Doesn't sound like it because it was already done.

I just put out an apology and you just spit on it.

My doctor prescribed me anti depressants for my ocd and encouraged me to see a counsellor. right now there is a long wait list to see someone though. The pills help but it’s like a bandaid solution. Now that things are getting better with Covid maybe the wait list will become shorter (fingers crossed).

As someone that goes to a counselor keep shopping around. The meds only get you so far. Talking to someone sure helps. You don't know how much it helps until you have a week delay!
