My Blu-ray Storage Solution - Blu-ray Forum

I finally "field stripped" my Blurays yesterday. While I have already been storing them in paper sleeves I never got around to freeing the cover art from their cases...until now.

The Bluray discs are going to be kept in paper sleeves and then the sleeves inside black storage boxes but the issue I am having now is what to do with the cover art? I don't want to cut it up or destroy it in anyway but I would like to perhaps put it into some kind of an album. Any ideas?

By the way, anyone else go the sleeve route? Personally, for me it is nice having all of my movies in a couple boxes I can quickly access under my coffee table.

That is a good idea.I am running out of room on my Blu shelving unit and do not have any room to add another shelving unit so I am looking for options and your system is an option I shall consider.I would just save the cover art in a box and hide in my closet.Thanks for the idea.

The sleeves I've seen for covers seem to show them folded over which is a bit silly as it will ruin them. I'd suggest trying to find a box that you can fit the sleeves in without folding them and then places inserts for A-Z or genre.

It's not too difficult to find disc storage options but sleeve storage is a lot harder!

Wow, Mr. Terry and chip75...you both do have quite a collection of Blus. Keep me posted on what you do. I will just end of putting my sleeves in a box as suggested by you and yes Chip, I don't want to fold up or desecrate the sleeves in anyway.

We really need something like this but with space to fit the sleeves undamaged, but these cases work out to a lot especially if you have big collections. Your solution is a lot more cost-effective!

At the moment I'm sticking to shelves until a more aesthetically pleasing solution presents itself!

I think having a page that shows the insert in landscape mode with an envelope in the back to put the Bluray disc in would be a neat solution.

I personally don't really need to look at the artwork when I want to play movie however, so the envelope idea in a box will suffice for now and just putting the inserts into a box in my closet.

I would like to get a 300 Disc changer but I know those are in the stratosphere in terms of pricing is concerned.

UPDATE: I found this nice black faux leather box that I might get. It holds 200 Blurays.

The idea of using sleeves to store BD's is good but you need a solution for the artwork. I did try storing CD's in books of sleeves from Staples, but the artwork problem stopped this. I do use sleeves for computer CD's and DVD's, but for now I stick to shelves until a better solution arises (dispite my lack of space).

Get sheet protectors (200 at Staples for under $17 = 400 cover art held) and a 3 ring binder or two. If you feel industrious, number code each cover art page and the sleeve you keep the movie in. Hand your guest the nice binder full of cover art to select their movie, then you can easily retrieve the right disc from your box by its number. If you are very VERY industrious and have a large library first create a category system (i.e. 4 digit movie codes, 1000 are dramas, 2000 are horror, etc) then you can use different binders or tabbed sections to jump to the kind of movie you were looking for, plus it will be easier to insert new acquisitions into the system instead of tacking them all on to the end.

Actually this is a great idea! (Good ad for Staples as well.) Keep your cover art in a binder and the discs in a smaller binder, which I use for CD's.

I'm partial to the storage box method. This is how I keep all my Asian imports. I have far too many non-region 1 discs so this method saves me quite a bit of space.

DO NOT use slappa! The cases itself are beautiful, but the sleeves scratch the hell out of your discs. I pulled out a dvd from the sleeve and found it covered in scratches... Even managed to slightly scuff one of my blu rays

Really? None of my discs are scratched.

I've never been big on the sleeve route, it's harder to pick out a random movie to watch. It takes away from the home video collection, having the physical media (the case, the artwork, etc.) while my collection continues to grow (currently approaching 1800) I simply enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to manipulate the space I have to accommodate my collection. I could never go the sleeve route though.

Its a lot harder to scratch your blurays, but try putting a dvd in one of the sleeves and take it back out. Especially if youre using the d3i pages with 4 disc slots its a really tight squeeze. You can actually hear the material grinding against the disc as you pull a one out.
