Teenager ‘goes too far’ in quest to look like Angelina Jolie by Zoe Drewett for Metro.co.uk

Iranian 19-year-old Sahar Tabar says she has been a massive fan of the Hollywood actress her entire life – but friends and family say she’s hone too far in her efforts to look like the star. Sahar said she ‘would do anything’ to look like Jolie and her reported 50 operations have left her with fuller lips and defined cheek bones – but trolls say it has made her look like a zombie. Others told the young woman she looked more like a character from Tim Burton movie The Corpse Bride.

Not sure if this is real, or an elaborate hoax. Could be chopped, or possibly latex prosthetics. If so, then well done.

I saw that earlier. On one level I'm horrified and will probably have nightmares (imagine waking up in the middle of the night with that standing next to you *screams internally*), but also feel kinda bad for her. Obvious body dysmorphic disorder is obvious. It's sad she would feel the need to do this to herself, she was actually really pretty before the surgery:

15 minutes to some isn't enough. Should we empathize with these people, or use them as examples as to where "we" could possibly go wrong? I have no pity for these people.

Oh, I'm not saying she should be considered a child that has no idea what she's doing. She's a grown woman (there are conflicting reports on whether she's 19, 29 or somewhere in between, but either way she's an adult) so it's up to her, and no matter how much friends and family may oppose it they obviously can't stop her.

So yes, it's her call to make and she's doing this by choice, but I have a strong feeling there's underlying mental illness driving her to it so on some level I still feel bad for her.
