You know how the old 1950s monster movies, where our childhood selves sat through eons of dialogue scenes just to catch a brief glimpse of some cool rubber suit creature at the end, are still way better than the effects-heavy CGI monster movies today that inundate us with realistic-looking creatures from the first scene?

The Emannuelle movies are sort of like that in comparison to present-day adult films.

They’re more than just erotic films. They are sexually explicit but not hardcore. The success of the first film was attributed to it being released during the porn chic era, it was for people who wanted to watch that sort of material but were uncomfortable with hardcore stuff.

Why would they sell out? They aren’t limited editions, like all Kino titles they’ll be available for as long as the licence is valid.
