Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced 'Couples Retreat' for release on Blu-ray on February 9, 2010. This marital-therapy comedy starring Vince Vaughn grossed over $107 million domestically, making it Universal's second-biggest movie this year. This will not be a "flipper" BD/DVD release, although it will include a digital copy on disc.

Special features include:

Feature commentary with director Peter Billingsley and star Vince Vaughn
Alternate ending: Back in Chicago
Gag Reel
Therapy's Greatest Hits
Paradise Found: Filming in Bora Bora
Behind the Yoga

In the UK, 'Couples Retreat' is being released on Blu-ray on February 8, with identical technical specifications and release details as on the US edition, minus the digital copy.

This was originally a first day buy for me since I adore Kristen Bell but because it will be a flipper disc, no sale.

Actually it won't be. At least the case/packaging only says "Blu-ray Disc + Digital Copy"

Exactly. It doesn't say it will be a flipper. I doubt flippers are for every release. Either way, I didn't see this in the theater, so I'll at least give it a rent. The bad reviews it got have no effect on me really.

I really didn't enjoy this in the theatre - actually fell asleep. Others who like these kinds of movies may be interested though.

I didn't fall asleep, but I definitely thought it was going to be better. Don't think I'm gonna purchase.

What is this flipper crap? This movie tanked @ the BO so I'll give it a rental. I'm a fan of Bell as well.

I've also been a fan of Vaughn but he is just not funny anymore...Stay away from 4 Christmases...wow was that bad.

I think you didn't do your research correctly or at all, right? This movie did not tank. It's production budget was 70 million to make and it scored a total of 151 million worldwide.

And to answer your question about flipper discs. They are the new lousy tech thats being done first with Universal, combining the hi-def version in one side and the DVD version on the other, giving it a flip disc. Just like the HD DVD Combo discs.

I stand corrected. I got that mixed up with the 12% rating on RT.

i heard from universal studios that starting jan 19th when bourne blu-ray movies come out individuals it s going to have dvd and blu-ray on one disc , but i just saw that couple treat so far is getting blu-ray and digital copy is that true

yeah i wanted to see this when they where gonna release it as an R comedy, idk i'll download it maybe. and if i like it i'll buy it.

Had its moments but definitely not worth a purchase. I'd recommend a rental for those who are considering a blind buy. One of the corniest endings ever.

These would have the same protection as regular BDs. I do not understand why people are hating something that has not even been released yet. These same people are making assumptions about a technology that has not even been used by the normal consumer.

The comments about the BD/DVD combo disc sound exactly like the comments made by people who read the initial specifications for Blu-ray Disc and started making up stuff. Just wait for reviews on the Bourne films before jumping to conclusions.

After all, Universal does not release much on Blu-ray Disc and there are requests for a lot of titles from them. If this means that requests get fulfilled then by all means do it. The alernative is the title either takes a long time to get released or worse case scenario, never is released to Blu-ray Disc.

Oh, and Couples Retreat was not announced as a "flipper" disc. Only the Bourne films will be BD/DVD combos at this time.
