but HOW MUCH?

I would LOVE to get one of these babies eventually, or the next gen model.
I hope to have some home movies of vacations and kids and all that... when I get around to having vacations and kids and all that. :P

And here's another one that was kind of shocking.

Two years ago, this was my high school student by day:

But after classes were out:

She is a very good person, and still sends me a text message to say hi to her old English teacher once and a while.

Me want

"The Hitachi DZ-BD7H has a Blu-ray drive and 30GB build-in hard disc drive which can record four hours of 1920 x 1080 high-def video or up to eight hours of 1440 x 1080 HD video. The camcorder, which will be roughly $1,600, can also record HD video on a 8cm Blu-ray disc.

The second Blu-ray camcorder, the DZ-BD70, is a single drive camcorder which can record approximately one hour of 1920 x 1080 HD video or two hours of 1440x1080 high-def video. The price will be roughly $1,350."

Talking Hitachi's first Blu-ray camcorders

Hitachi's first Blu-ray camcorders

Hitachi jumped to the front of the Blu-ray camcorder race this morning, announcing two camcorders that can record video at up to 1920x1080-pixel resolution on 8-centimeter Blu-ray discs. Both models, the DZ-BD7H and the DZ-BD70, include 5.3-megapixel CMOS sensors developed by AltaSens of Thousand Oaks, California.

Yeah. I'm definitely getting the hybrid.

I've been thinking about an HD camcorder for about a year. And this blows away what I was expecting to be able to get.

Be interesting to see price points, but I'll be shocked if I see anything in this thread come in lower than $1500-$2000 MSRP.

Here are the first prices I'm getting for these cameras in Japan - to be on the shelves 8/30/. The bd-70 for ¥162,000 or $1,359 and the bd-7h for ¥185,00 or $1,551. There is no actual set price from Hitachi - these are just the very first figures posted by one shop. i expect the prices to drop drastically once they are actually out as these cameras are double what next in line Hitachi model is going for. I'll keep everyone posted as more prices come in. This does look SWEET!

Can transcode HD from the drive to SD on a DVD-R/RW for HD and BD challenged family and friends.

Am I the only one that sees that as DAMN COOL?

Gary
