Just watched Death Wish 3 for the first time,
God bless Michael Winner for unleashing this work of genius upon the cinematic landscape. If the original film was a relatively serious social commentary, and Death Wish 2 a half-hearted attempt to pursue the same themes (whilst cranking up the sleaze and exploitation), then Death Wish 3 is a superhero film in disguise. It literally takes a bazooka and blows any pretense out the window, instead delivering a relentlessly-paced exercise in gun-toting heroics. Charles Bronson was too cool for this world. |

4: The Crackdown was a always a big disappointment to me. Always found it dull, but I haven't seen it in years. I love John P. Ryan as the evil villain in Avenging Force and his performance is very entertaining in Delta Force 2, but he didn't leave much of an impression here. 4 is the one I don't have on DVD or Blu-ray.
I actually always liked Death Wish V: The Face of Death. It has some decent action and Michael Parks was a pretty good villain. |

I was renting all of these from Netflix several years ago to see them for the first time. I loved 1-4. The 5th was so bad I couldn't even finish it. I had to turn it off about halfway through. It was dreadful and didn't have nearly the fun factor as the previous sequels.
