I see the problem now... We all assumed that the post on post #1 was an announcement of a pending release...
"Lemora (1973) coming to Blu?" ...Clearly this was a question to Don, and the answer was a resounding "No". Silly us. |

By the time this comes out by Synapse, it might as well be renamed Lemora: An Old Fart's Tale of the Supernatural.

Something to consider...
3D tv's became wildly available in 2010. They were essentially declared dead in 2016 with most manufacturer's no longer producing them and the final sets rolled out in 2017. Synapse consistently takes so long to to release a film from announcement to release that if they had announced a 3D film project anytime after 2012 they would have missed the entire trend and essentially ran into the risk of folks no longer having the ability to even play their disc as intended. I hate to be a broken record and keep beating these guys up over the length of time they spend on a release but just think of how much can and does happen in 5 years. That's all of elementary school, middle school or High school. That's one full presidential election cycle and then some. That was an entire video game console generation during the 90's and early 2000's.... it's just mind blowing really the amount of titles we know they have/are/were working on that haven't seen release. |

In theory it is possible that they may never release it but I was just being Facetious since so much time has passed since that initial announcement with my quote/comments. As far as we know they still have it and still plan to release it one day. I don't know how much digging you've done in the Synapse thread but between 2010 and 2016 they announced quite a few releases that many of us have been waiting on... this one included, with nothing to show for it thus far on a number of them so we all tend to get a bit testy when any of the titles in question are brought up.

Just another Synapse thread with absolutely nothing but waste of time. Don is the next Bill, imho.

Synapse puts out great product—their scans are impeccable and they release premium packages of their films (I am forever indebted to them for bringing HQ releases of Prom Night and Curtains into the world), but I do tend to roll my eyes whenever they announce something. I remember when a year or so had passed after their initial announcement of Suspiria, and a couple of fans innocently inquired about the status of the release on the Facebook page. Whoever managed the page (presumably Don) responded with a rude, gatekeeper-y retort that was totally unnecessary IMO, especially to customers who are eager to buy what you're selling. I understand it will inevitably get annoying when you have people asking all the time about the status, but there is an easy way to mitigate that: Don't announce it until you're somewhat close to having the finished product. When you announce that you are releasing something and literal years go by, it's only natural that people are going to be curious.
As for Lemora, I've held out on the DVD, patiently awaiting a Blu-ray release, but at this point may get the DVD just because I enjoy the film and would like to be able to watch it in some form. |
