"November 19, 2008 | by Rachel Cericola Do not adjust that dial or set-top box. You can also stop banging the remote against your coffee table and/or head. There is nothing wrong with your Xbox 360 setup. Apparently, Sony doesn’t want to play nice with Xbox’s newfound abilities to stream Netflix. MTV Multiplayer says they have pulled all Sony content from the service’s lineup. The company still allows PC, Mac and any other Netflix-enabled device to receive such gems as “Zombie Strippers” and “Anaconda 3: Offspring.” No really, Sony is the keeper of a lot of our favorites, including all of the “Spider-Man” movies, “Casino Royale” and “Superbad.” Xbox 360 users would probably never know that—or maybe they would, since the titles are missing. Netflix wouldn’t comment, which is understandable. After all, they want to keep that content available to its other subscribers. However, they are hoping that Sony’s content will be licensed to Xbox users soon. Good luck with that." i say good for sony even though i have a 360. im sick and tired of microsofts crap. HD DVD scandal. trying to suck consumers dry. sony did what MS had coming to them for a longggg time. trying to kill our beloved blu-ray with this streaming from xbox 360 which wont matter anyways bc the quality and sound cant match blu. ![]() |

Heh, go Sony - thought this had happened based on a NXE review I saw.
Makes perfect sense - if Netflix wants to stream with the PS3 too I'm sure that they would be more than willing to turn it back on - but you just don't cut an exclusive deal like that with Sony's big game system competitor and expect that you're not going to have to pay the piper huh? ![]() |

Netflix also streams ok the samsung bdp2500/2550 and new LG player so in a way they do support Sony's cause which is why you might see Sony titles up there eventually just for the simple fact that other thing use this feature...

I don't believe that the X-Box Netflix service is the same as those players. Therefore they can limit the X-Box one and not the others. Please correct me if I'm wrong as I do not own one of those players to verify.

Maybe other movie companies will join Sony on this. MS should have backed Blu-ray from the beginning instead of putting it down at every opportunity. I used to have a 360 and tried streaming a few so-called HD movies through X-BOX Live and it just didn't compare in quality, not to mention the buffering issue while you're trying to watch something.

So whats the problem?? Nothing other than some licensing issues.

I liked my old Xbox... 5.1 surround sound off the games, 1080i as opposed to the PS2 but Microsoft can kiss my big white greasy arse. They drop support of items, programs and concepts at the drop of a hat. I know damn well that anything I buy with their name on it isn't going to last long enough for them to work all the bugs out and then it's off to a new bug-riddled idea. They're the clowns of the industry, man!!!

There is already a more appropriately placed post about this in "Off topic discussion."
In lieu of repeating myself; I'll just copy and paste. You know what? All's fair in love and war. I don't really care. I have a PS3 to watch blu-rays on. I have a couple of 360's to play games on, use as a Tivo, stream Netflix etc. Each company will use whatever strategies they feel will help them garner the largest market share this gen, and more power to them both. They both will need as much help as they can get to have any hope of getting anywhere near the Wii. Only the most pitiful fanbois feel any kind of emotional investment in this situation or take glee from 360 owners not getting to stream Sony movies. You know...... the kind of fanboi that refuses to own any system other than the object of their desires. In the end, they are the ones missing out on the best of both worlds, so let them have this moment of pleasure; because really..... if you are lame enough to be taking pleasure from (or suffering from great disdain for that matter) this situation...... your odds of getting pleasure elsewhere are practically nill. |
