Default Good Blu-ray software and good 1080p monitor

I might use my PC for watching Blu-Rays and DVD's and I might buy a 1080p 23 inch monitor. Is WinDVD 9 + Blu-Ray good software for blu-rays and DVD's? Also is the LG W2361VG-PF 23 inch 1080p monitor a good choice for movie watching?

Hello PCFAn. I was at Best Buy yesterday and this one is the best deal I've seen yet. It had a really great picture for the price. In addition, it has an HDMI port, 1920 x 1080(1080p), and it is HDCP compliant.

Lastly, there is a section in this part of the forum that discusses the four to five different blu-ray software players for the PC. I personally, like many people here love Arcsoft Total Media Theatre 3. It is very good. Good luck.

+1 for Total Media Theater 3 here. Then PowerDVD for a second choice. PCFan, I would suggest you don't bother with WinDVD, too many headaches when it comes to BD playback.

I would also recommend TMT 3. You could get a SimHD plug-in for DVD playback w/TMT 3 if you would like.

I think I changed my mind about getting a 23" 1080p monitor. I went to a local store today and they had a Samsung 32 inch 1080p 60Hz LCD with 3 HDMI inputs for $599. 32 inches is the biggest I want for my bedroom. I already have a Sony S360 Blu-ray player that I recently bought and I rather sit on my couch to watch a movie than be at my computer desk, sitting on a computer chair, to watch a movie for a few reasons. I currently have a 3 year old Sony 26 inch 1366x768 HDTV that I plan to sell.
