Have you noticed the 3d ones that have the bluray strip cut off, like the outlander one, it looks weird!

2 more recent releases that have a slipcovers are:

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Both the HMV exclusive and the normal one have slipcovers)

Braveheart (as far as I know, all of them come in a slipcover)

I know it's easy to just take it off but that's not the point, haha.
Bottom line, it's how the blu-ray is supposed to be, from the factory, it has a cover, that's it.

But I agree, they can make a collection look ugly, especially if you don't have many of them, then if you decide to make your collection look better by adding more, you have to look all over for special editions or versions with slipcovers, which is annoying and I won't even go that far.

I would love to remove them all, sell them on, or whatever.

But really, that would destroy my collection in my mind.

In conclusion, blu-ray collectors are doomed, you can't have it both ways.

Good and bad.

Nice 3D/lenticular which adds something very special to the release and maybe costs 30p. MGM/Fox's Bond gives us a 100% replication of the rather crap cover underneath. 5p max outlay and 0p thought or care for the film lover or collector.

I think a slip cover has to earn it's place. I end up removing at least three quarters of them. As was perfectly illustrated above, it's often a thoroughly pointless piece of no-thrills packaging, added merely for the sake of it. I'd rather have quicker access to the disc.

Now, that's a beautiful bit of simple packaging.

Some thought from Sony UK.

2 more non-listed - that I actually thought were pretty cool:

Push

The curious case of Benjamin Button (HMV exclusive)

Any slipcovers I've ended up with have gone straight into the recycling bin. Completely unneccessary (and generally ugly).

We have an annoying variation. WHEN SLIPCOVERS GO BAD!

AND

So, instead of having the stupid double artwork we now get no artwork inside apart from some big heads. Yeah, it's nicely done, but could they not also include the real artwork (that's on the outside) somehow. And of course we get the bit of paper added. As least it's not glued on like I've seen with some US discs.

We also get the FOR USE ONLY WITH BLURAY PLAYERS AND DRIVES. So it won't play in a Bluray kettle or vacumm cleaner then? Good to know.

Slipcovers give marketing and designers a chance to add good stuff but it also gives them a chance to add crap ideas.

Close, but no cigar this time.

lol That's funny.

When I removed the Star Trek slip cover, I felt the same way! I now feel obliged to retain this slip cover over the case merely to avoid the alternative.

Did my own front cover:

There's a high quality PNG graphic of that @ http://rapidshare.com/files/31046143...y_PNG.png.html or www.gigasize.com/get.php?d=8byojyfom8b

Mind, do not resize it if printing and use photo glossy paper.

It's dark, but that's how I like it

Another download link added.

To Add To List:

Zombie Strippers! (UK)
Kramer vs Kramer (UK)
Horton Hears a Who? (UK)
Waterhorse: The Legend of the Deep (UK)
Gremlins (Canada)

I like the slipcovers. They protect the case in shipping and look nice on shelf. But childrens BDs slipcovers will very very easily break! But better to brake a slipcover than to break a lousy Fox (American) ECO CASE!

2 new for me today:

T4, worthless and useless. Gladiator though, some thought with a metallic/embossed finish to the shield/uniform and name. That's nice for sure.
