In other words, this set is not the definitive set. This also applies to A Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's Play set.

I'd love individual releases with the original artwork. I only want parts 1-6.

Regarding part 7, all the source material for the uncut scenes has been lost/destroyed so unfortunately a proper extended cut will never see the light of day. JC Buechler confirmed this on Crystal Lake Memories IIRC.

I was surprised they crammed some films two on a disc but I actually really like the book. It's something a little different and considering how massive the set is already, it saves space. I don't have room for 12 individually cased movies on top of everything else, and if you do maybe you should take a long hard look at that collection.

Also in terms of uncut versions, by all regards much of the cut footage is lost. This may very well be a "in the warehouse" yarn like Full Moon have done for years but currently it seems Paramount have no plans to release "newly discovered, fully uncut Friday instalments from the warehouse!"

I guess I'm alone on this then as I think the set is fantastic. Unboxing it was the first time I unboxed a BD and my jaw dropped.

Just watched "Jason Goes to Hell" and I give it a 8.5

I can see why this film pisses off a lot of fans being that it's more of an Evil Dead sequel than it is a Friday sequel but it can be enjoyed as a parody/meta entry of the franchise quite easily and it works even better as a standalone film on its own. Probably not the best sounding praise for entry nine in a series but praise nonetheless.

Um...why? It's a beautifully crafted set aesthetically.

I'm enjoying all your reviews on the franchise. It's interesting to read the thoughts of someone new to the franchise.

You know, every film is going to have its fans. I'm really happy that, you, picking up this set and watching these for the first time, were able to enjoy one of the most hated films of the franchise.

And I really can't say I disagree with you, either.

Jason Goes to Hell is something I loathe as a 'Friday the 13th' film comparison, but it really does have many of the elements of old-school Friday films. The only major difference is that Jason has taken a walk from his body and he's bouncing around from host to host. As you said, as its own horror film, it isn't bad... I just think that when people heard 'Jason Goes to Hell', they figured, "Oh crap, this is going to be the last film in the franchise." Then, they felt like the film crapped all over what they were expecting... a major splatter-thon with Mr. Hockey-Mask, where the villain is brought to a particularly epic, 'final' end.

For all intents and purposes, I think Jason X is far worse. It's fun, yes, but the characters were mostly painful for me to watch.

Agreed. It's a sturdy cardboard box, and each film inside has its own keepcase as opposed to being shoved in a cardboard sleeve. Each of those cases are black instead of blue, and have the original film artwork. For someone that loves collecting movies, the boxed set was a wet dream come true... in terms of packaging, at least.

I can see the differences between me and people who grew up with the series, the entries which I feel the mid tier of the franchise are probably the biggest separators between us.

So, anyone know of any place where this is available for a decent price? Preferably with international shippins options that don't cost an arm and a leg.

"Laugh and point fingers all you want, but I love love love "The Darkest Side of Night" by Metropolis. It's so 1980s that it rules."

I love this song also, enjoyed it from the first time I ever heard it in 7th grade when spike was TNN was marathoning these movies, edited as Sh*t of course.

Alas, all the listings I checked are covered with that ****ing annoying international shipping program where they charge you import fees that you wouldn't most likely have to pay anyway.

Just finished watching "Jason X" and I'd give it an 8.5.

I'm just left to wonder what people really expected from this, it is true that no matter the genre or the franchise expecting the best is the only thing to expect but at the end of the day it's the tenth instalment in the Friday series. The Friday series which has tested the water with everything from Carrie style superpowers, Universal Monster Movies, copycats and putting "Manhattan" in the title and spending 99% of the film either on a ferry or in Vancouver. What I'm trying to say is Jason X is entertaining and that is enough, it's so nice to see a distributor come in and be happy to spend actual money on their films so they can live up to their own crazy concepts, especially after Paramount managed to misfire so many interesting concepts. I think I would have been very satisfied if this was to be Jason's swan song but then again I loved Drive Angry too, I don't know anyone else who loves that film.

Not including the remake or the VS movie, overall my Friday list would be something like:

Top Tier: The New Bloods, Jason X, Jason Goes To Hell
Mid Tier: Part 2, Jason Lives, Part 3 and The Final Chapter.
Bottom Tier: New Beginning, Friday the 13th and Jason Takes Manhattan.
