Not defending Warner because it sucks, but I just bet most people hate that movie anyway and don't care. I didn't even watch that movie when I went through the set. I would miss the camping tent scene a lot though, if I did watch it.

At least with the edited Elm Street movies, those hadn't been seen uncut since the VHS/LaserDisc days, so they get a pass for that technicality. Should be absolutely no excuse to have a movie uncensored on DVD censored on blu-ray. Not to mention the Halloween box set was absolutely worth the hard earned cash unlike this set.
A few seconds cut out and suddenly it's the end of the world.

Few seconds? More like three or four minutes.

Got to love this place. A remaster looks slightly different from a DVD/old Blu-ray = end of the world. A TV show is cropped from 4:3 to 16:9 or a film has been censored = no big deal.

Agreed. I recently read a multiple page thread on which versions of Halloween to own solely due to the color and how there's a version that apparently is "too blue" and I saw people saying they weren't even gonna buy it on blu because it wasn't the correct transfer (even though the overall picture quality was far superior than any DVD)

As far as Jason Goes to Hell (which I assume is the uncut version people are talking about here) that disc may as well be a coaster as far as I'm concerned as I'll probably never watch that movie again. Nevermind the body switching nonsense, the main character guy is just wild annoying to me.

I would not buy these films until the censored footage is found and restored to each film but that may be impossible now.The wet stuff is either lost, destroyed or in such bad shape it would be a very jarring viewing experience to see this stuff spliced back into the cleaned-up films.
The Pt 4 outtakes look to be in a good enough condition to construct an unrated version?

Exactly. The R-Rated cut of Jason Goes to Hell is downright butchered compared to the uncut version.

And yes, I honestly could care less with redone color timing. To me, an uncut version matters to me far more than a new color scheme, even if said discs are region locked.

That's why I went out my way to import the uncut versions of "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning", "Texas Chainsaw 3D", "Universal Solider: Day of Reckoning", "The Raid 2" and "Casino Royale". Even if the differences are just several seconds, they still matter to me.

However, the one time I do agree with complaints against revisionism is the lack of the original mono track for The Terminator. In reality, I really just don't like the new firearms sound effects in the 5.1 mix. All of the other sound effects could be changed (like the laser sounds being those of the laser sounds from T2, which is a revision I actually dig to be honest), but leave the sounds of Arnie's laser sight pistol alone. That SFX is way, way burnt into my head from many years of watching the VHS release.

Anyone know if a re-release is going to happen anytime soon or should I just stick with purchasing these individually?

If I didn't own the set I'd be holding off. There's too much money to be made off of Friday the 13th for the franchise to be OOP on Blu-ray worldwide for too long.

That's what I'm thinking too, I don't own the box set think it's safe just to hold off like you said until they re-release something.

I can't believe how much people are asking for this set considering, it's rather imperfect, I mean for one "Jason Goes to Hell" isn't unrated and the if you thought the unrated version was bad, the R-rated cut is almost unwatchable it's so bad, the commentary for "Friday the 13th Part III" is missing and the 3D isn't perfect, but there is a lot to enjoy, thankfully I got the set when it was "cheap" somewhere between $80-$100.

I just don't understand why Paramount or WB keeps these films out of print. I honestly don't know who has rights to home video, I assume Paramount right? What I never understood is why they treat this series like shit considering the money it rakes in for them, I mean it is a highly profitable franchise. Why be so ashamed? I'll never know, but what I do know is that there really isn't an excuse to keep these films out of print. Of course, I'd love to see a more complete set with everything this out of print set omitted, mainly the "Part III" commentary and maybe a better 3D transfer, I mean people will buy it if they do right. It's been proven that the fans will buy every re-issue. Paramount or WB, which ever one, just comes off as stupid here.

One commentary missing and the worst movie in the series, which no one cares about, being only the theatrical cut isn't really some huge deal. The movies look great, the features are good, there's not much more to want other than uncut versions, which Paramount says cannot be done.

I'm sure a new set or something will come eventually though, and I am sure they will find something new to add.

The lack of a Blu-ray 3D Friday the 13th 3D is a major omission.

3D is very quickly dying at home and UHD doesn't even support it, but okay.

That's irrelevant to the role that stereoscopic 3D plays in the movie.

Yea I'm willing to bet a little before the release of the new film they rerelease the films as a set again. This is 1 horror series I just can't see being permanently OOP.

Do you not believe in releasing the film as it was originally shot? I don't even have 3D either but a lot of people do and seeing as the film was originally released in 3D, they should have included that and not added insult to injury by including a half-assed anaglyph version. I mean most people here would get upset if a film was released in the wrong aspect ratio or was released in a colorized version, so why would you dismiss this?

What is your source on that?

The quickly dying 3D at home format just sold more units than the UHD counterpart of the latest blockbuster.

On topic, Jaws 3D was just released by Universal. Isn't this in the same league as F13th 3D?

I don't think it's terribly fair to compare the sales of UHD and 3D at this stage as UHD is in its relative infancy.

Also, if that chart is saying that 3D made up for between 0%-6% of total Blu-Ray sales of some of those titles, I wouldn't exactly say that's a sign of a booming format...

How's not fair?

. They are both niche products and they will remain niches.
. I'm sure Joe Six Pack doesn't buy 3D sets (or BD for that matter), only enthusiasts.
. According to naysayers, 3D is dying for years and no one is interested in the format.
. The 4K combo also has the movie on Blu-ray, so future-proof is guaranteed for the same price, for those that still don't own a 4K gear.

I think there is more than common ground to compare the two.
