I press the "Info/Menu" button. It's on the right side of the remote, just below the pause button. From there, you can switch lots of things (audio tracks, subtitles & more) without having to use the disc menu.

I passed on the deal recently for the 90 which was $199 and 3 movies. I kept reading enough that made me hesitate on it. If I come back around to it I'm sure there will be a deal again.

I am liking the Phillips 7502, Sony X800M2 and the $$ Panasonic 820. Debating on of I should get one of these or wait and see what comes around in the next few months and buy something on BF.

I picked up the UBK90 as part of the Best Buy deal. Got Gladiator, Fury, and The Mule. So nice to not have the loud noise from the UP-970. I do plan to open the 970 and dampen the sound and give it to my parents to use on their new 4K TV. For the price, I thought this was a great deal.

I also recently got a UBK90 and was wondering if it’s CEC/SimpLink only works with LG TVs? I have an Apple TV, my prior Sony BD player, and a Sony soundbar that work perfect with it. Yet other than automatically turning on the tv to the BD input, there seems to be no interoperability. Did I get a defective unit or is it limited to only LG TVs?

The SimpLink only works on LG TVs, I now got a Vizio TV and the player doesn't turn on automatically.

Thank you. That sucks, but at least it answers if my unit is defective. I get that the tech is flakey, but it is very convenient that my tv remote could be used for the Apple TV, the soundbar, and my older BD player.

Default UBK80? (why bother?)

UBK80? (why bother?)

  • price difference? ($30?)
  • Dolby Vision (i think it's an important consideration)
  • other differences? (honestly - i do not know)
  • my thought? (it would be a rather 'serious mistake' to consider this option)

The UBK80 also doesn't have Netflix and Youtube apps, and also lacks a HDMI audio-only output.

Had my first freeze on this player over the weekend. I was watching the Dark knight UHD in preparation for joker. During the scene where heath ledger burns the stack cash, my player froze. Had to unplug the player to get it working properly again. Hope this isn’t a sign of things to come:/
