You'll be happy with both. The transfers are Criterion/MoC worthy and the simple sleeve packaging is starting to grow on me.

I would like to see KINO release a Blu-ray version of "Intolerance."

Hear, hear!

Kino has released a number of silents and early talkies in the only quality versions available. They have some serious guts when it comes to their catalog. They've had a few quality control issues in their time, but I just can't bring myself to despise them.

G.W. Pabst's Secrets of a Soul and The Love Jeanne Ney, Paul Leni's The Cat and the Canary, Arnold Fanck's The White Hell of Pitz Palu, Anthony Asquith's A Cottage on Dartmoor, and Fritz Lang's Spies and Woman in the Moon (but were these mastered in HD?) would all make for very nice Blu-ray upgrades.

Paul Leni's The Last Warning hasn't received a legitimate DVD release. I would love to see Kino release a restored version, even if only on DVD. It's right up their alley! Pal Fejos' Lonesome would also be an amazing addition, but it may still be under copyright. Of course, The Man Who Laughs is still under copyright, but Kino worked something out for that release... so who knows?

I'd also love to see a Blu-ray of the early talkie Prix de Beaute starring the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Louise Brooks. Criterion or MoC could also choose to bless us with Blus of Pandora's Box and Diary of a Lost Girl. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

Same here...I've never seen Steamboat Bill Jr. completely or uninterrupted, so this is a special treat for me as well.

I'm so happy to find so many people here who love silent film. I figured that on Blu-ray.com you all would be virtually non-existent. I'm glad to have been proven wrong. Silents are my favorite films.

I took the liberty of pre-ordering this from Amazon, while I still had my "Prime" trial. All other pre-orders have had delivery estimates on the release date. For some reason, Steamboat Bill Jr. is "estimated" for July 8...two days after the release date. I wonder why?

No review on this website yet...but unless it's cited elsewhere, I think this will be region A only.

I hear ya Knap!

Well...so far I've got all of the silent titles you've listed, sans City Girl, but I should have that in my greedy little hands in the next day or so!

I hope that Kino does the same great job on Metropolis, as they've done with the Keaton title(s) and Battleship Potemkin.

Where did you hear about Sherlock, Jr. and Our Hospitality? I assume these would be Kino releases?

Hey...don't forget about Chaplin! I would hope to see at least (2) titles released before the end of this year.

I think that once people discover that ANY great film is mostly due its visuals, then a silent movie is not such a giant leap of faith. And if it's a GREAT comedy (ala Keaton and Chaplin), then it's even easier to be entertained and emotionally involved in silent films (ie The Kid, Sunrise, etc.).

Oh, Chaplin....I am awaiting the day patiently. Those are films with true magic in them! I love you Little Tramp

On another note, I'd love me some Chaney Sr. on blu too!
