Now spreading their spam to the Wish List Forum:

Again there are no law suits at all. Also all contents were produced and done long before pre-order was opened. And as our dear count orlok should remember he canceled and got immediately refunded after the second delay.

As for our contents etc. we have found a buyer who will then distribute the title in the near future.

Nobody lost a job here. Our product manager who designed the product and collected all the special features is now working for two other distributors but that was already before we decided to cancel this but it was one of the reasons we decided to leave the business. He did a great job, which you will see once the follow up distributor will release all this.

We won't release movies anymore, refunded all people except for 2 pending cases and that's okay for us. We have other businesses and so it is sad that we did not complete it, but this business and its questionable future simply led to the decision.

Lastly one has to understand that getting involved with such a brand changes the rules from being a movie release to being a merchandise product and therefor the licensing costs of certain special features are MUCH higher than what usually is paid in this business. And also arrow is experiencing that right now. We cannot license any of our special features to any forreign distributor (yes we got requests already prior to canceling the product) without Elviras approval. That's simply it. Arrow or any other distributor would have to make a deal with her (which is the only right thing to do in connection to this movie) first to license our special features.

As for US rights (contrary to what some experts write in the German forums) that is something for late 2018... lionsgate is not in the race for that rights. There are pretty much 4 companies who might compete for that license. But we have nothing to do with that and we explained all that in the other thread, even if certain individuals try to burry that with their theories.

And as for the future release from the follow up distributor: we hope they will use all contents we delivered but we have no say over that.

Haunted Hills is not available in HD and it is preferred to sell it to an US distributor. That's all we know about that title, it is also a different licensor than the first movie.

What you are doing here is dangerous because it is simply not true and you have no evidence besides posts of other non-verified users.

And as the refund process showed, money was never on the line.... at no point.

UK distributors pay much less for basic licenses than we have to, US distributors pay approx the same while having a much bigger territory and a different purchase-behavior with their customers. Without a product manager we are not able to comply further with this business and so it was the best, after we got the info about another delay, to stop this now, also as the situation became inconvenient for our customers (aside from forums) with the PayPal purchase protection running out in early September for the customers of the first week of pre-order. We simply decided that we would not be able to handle this anymore. That's plain it...

My advice: Bomb SCREAM FACTORY with requests... they won't be able to do it until late 2018, but they have to see that there is interest for that movie. Again Anchorbay in 2008/2009 tried for a special edition and they killed the project already in the beginning, for reasons we wrestled with too but got beyond them... in the end it was simply not enough.

Hell comes To Frogtown is canceled and will not be released, that one really has to be considered collateral damage, since we only polished the existing scan and acquired one interview which was not provided to Arrow back then. If another German distributor picks up the next term from lakeshore, they can license that stuff from us. The interviews which were featured on the arrow disc cannot be used on any release outside of the UK.

Unfortunately "bombing Scream Factory" with requests for titles will probably have little effect anymore since Jeff Nelson and Cliff MacMillan have stated numerous times that they've been burned and taken losses on titles heavily requested from fans (ie: Scarecrows) which ended up doing really piss poor sales. Sadly, I'm not sure EMOTD would generate enough revenue for Scream Factory with how costly the license and supplemental materials are.

Someone should just do a barebones release of this film. Supporting the cost of all the bells and whistles is the real problem they had. By the way, I see that all of us happy customers should email Scream Factory and tell them we'd like to see this movie released. Maybe we should add that we don't want to pay more than $15 and we don't want excessive packaging or extras.

I'm pretty sure this guy isn't married. If he was, his wife would have muzzled him for the good of his business by now.

Didn't I ask something similar to be told "that's not how licencing works"? If a distributor has to negotiate for the special features, then surely they can renegotiate the terms of the licencing?

Wow, yet again my apathy saved the day! I really dodged a bullet by putting off and putting off buying this. Damn shame too, this sounded like a great package from folks who (apparently) cared about the flick. Ah well - hope all you guys get your money back!

Depends on the company holding the rights.

Toho is notorious for having specific control over licensing as is Studio Ghibli. In the US, Criterion has held onto nearly all of the material they created. Anchor Bay succesfully wrangled the Halloween '78 commentary while most of the Buena Vista/Disney supplements were made by Disney anyway so they had access to those.

Sometimes distributors/studios work deals out though to include as much material. I don't understand why Cassandra Peterson would want to deny fans the opportunity to see the documentary you created. I mean, if she was really that controlling, she wouldn't allow the documentary to be on a release available worldwide and in 1080p/24f HD.
