wow I love that artwork... extras appear the same as the US at first glance. but that artwork is worth the purchase alone.

where can we get it?

This release is a waste of money (and discs). The UK release has all these special features and more (it has some lengthy bonus interviews not included in neither the US or this release) on a single BD disc, and it's quite cheap.

This release is probably using a single layer disc, why else did they bump the extras to a separate DVD?

are you refering to the word 'Chainsaw' not being 'Chain Saw'?

Or to make it simple, everything from this German release (same as the US release) + "Interview with director Tobe Hooper" + "Interview with writer Kim Henkel" + "Interview with Production Manager Ron Bozman". The 3 interviews amount to over 40 minutes.

the german release also has a new transfer!
its not the same transfer as the US Blu Ray.
As far as i heard it does have a way better transfer which makes the movie look more natural!(im still waiting for my copy to arrive altogether with the german Boondock Saints Mediabook!)

Having seen the transfer on the UK BD disc (which is the same as the one on the US disc), if a new transfer was indeed made (I still think the german disc is probably using the same transfer, they are already using the very same extras from the US release, and with the costs involved in a new HD transfer it wouldn't be very cost-efficient to do a new one) I have serious doubts it will be superior to the already existing HD transfer. The transfer on the UK and US discs was slowly and painstakingly restored by Don May Jr. (from Synapse Films), and he did such a wonderful job I just can't see how a film like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, filmed with such cheap film stock, can look "way better" and "more natural" than this.

But if anyone buys the disc, post some screencaps, I'm now curious to see how it looks.

The US BD uses a noise filter, the german BD does not. So you can see more filmgrain and the image looks more natural.

Where did you hear about the use of a noise filter? It's already been stated numerous times that the restoration work was done manually, and that there was no filtering or noise reduction applied to the HD master (as it's pretty clear to see on the existing BD releases, it's very grainy, which is no surprise to those familiar with the film). I watched the existing HD transfer (on the UK BD disc), and it looks very grainy, and the image sure looks "natural".

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the new German release can't possibly be better than the existing HD transfer, it's just that a lot of time and money was spent restoring TCM, and I seriously doubt the company behind the German release got both access to the original materials + spend additional 10s of thousands of dollars further working on a new HD master, to sell in an edition limited to 5000 copies.

But when someone receives their discs, please post some screencaps, if the transfer is indeed such a huge improvement I would be interested in purchasing this release.

The label gave me that information. I don't know if that is true or not, but that's what they said to me.

The German label gave you the information that the US had a noise filter? I will have to +1 with Funktion at this stage, untill some screencaps come out, we cant really say for sure that it is 'superior' to the US transfer (which btw, if you havnt seen it, looks so good).
