Default Next gen cross over?

It is finally here, details of the next gen consoles are coming think and fast, anticipation is growing, releases are being announced.....but what do we gamers do?

Are you going to go for next gen straight away?
Are you going to buy new releases on PS3 then rebuy them shortly after on PS4?
Are you going to wait and buy all the potential games on the PS4?

Interesting questions, personally, I'll wait and buy on one console....next gen.

Btw, I'm a PS convert, spent 5 years on the xbox and am now playing the playstation exclusives, xbox hasn't been touched in a couple of months

I will get a PS4 if I can get a hold of one easily.

Not gonna be one of those waiting in line for weeks in advance people.

Buying PS4 at launch but I'll only skip PS3 games for a potential later PS4 version if I think there might be performance issues with the PS3 version. I've skipped BioShock Infinite for a PS4 version because I have little faith in the performance of Unreal Engine 3 games on PS3.

Beyond: Two Souls looks like it may have performance issues on PS3 so I may wait that one out.

I have faith that The Last of Us will be polished overall on PS3 so that's a day one PS3 buy.

Based off the PS+ 1 hour trial, Bioshock Infinite plays fine on the PS3. Of course I'd expect a PS4 version to be quite a bit better as with any game that would appear on both that simply isn't be emulated on the PS4.

I've played the game twice and Bioshock Infinite plays just fine on the PS3. Had no issues at all with it. If Bioshock Infinite does appear on PS4 (I hope it does so we can get the improved PC graphics) it probably won't be till next year as they'll probably release it as a Game Of The Year edition with the DLC.

I'm getting PS4 on launch day. I've been saving my gamestop credit and gift cards for about a year now and think I have enough to get it without anything coming out of pocket...

I'll probably get all my games for PS4, my PS3 hdd is STUFFED so any installs I don't have to put on it helps...

Bioshock Infinite PS3 image quality and framerate are apparently good but there's frequent tearing.

You have the option to use V-Sync or not. At the minimum if you have PS+ just try it out. I preferred dealing with the tearing. One of my favorite games this gen has tearing (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune).

I'll probably buy the game once it hits $20, unless I know for sure it will hit the PS4 fairly quickly.

Of course, still doesn't change the fact if it hits PS4 it would probably be far superior.

Depends on what is going on with me at the end of the year. If I can get one, sure, I'll get a PS4.

Quote:

Depends. Probably not if it's rebuying a 60 buck game on PS4. I did get the PS3 versions of games like Spec Ops: The Line and Sleeping Dogs because they are "free" on PS+ (even though I have those games on PC, which are better on my gaming PC).

Quote:

Depends. If I can get a better version on PC, I'll get it on PC. If I can get a better version on PS4, I'll get it on PS4.

They are basically computers. Whatever gives me a better version, I'll take that version.

Wait 1 year for price drop, pick it up along with the best games.

That is unless they have amazing launch titles.

Well think of all the big games that come out in November. AC, CoD, BF, FIFA, pretty much every game that gets a yearly update will be out for this babies launch window.

All these games so far and we haven't even hit E3 yet

I'm planning on getting one the first day, maybe two of them, if I can, unless there is information between now and then that convinces me I should not. I won't put off PS3 games in anticipation, as I want to play them now. There will enough to keep me busy, I'm sure, without creating my own backlog.

I have Bioshock Infinite on PS3. It's not super-stellar, but it's very playable, and arguably better than the Xbox 360 version in terms of overall image quality. PC version is of course glorious, but it doesn't have trophies.

I suspect one or both of these will get a PS4 iteration eventually, but I like both studios enough to buy the PS3 version now and maybe double dip later.

As for me, I'll likely be in line for a PS4 on day 1. Microsoft didn't do enough to make me want to buy a 360 this generation (though they came close), but unless their reveal on May 21 is really spectacular, I doubt I'll be joining in their ecosystem this round either.

Not to leave Nintendo out, I'll probably pick up a Wii U "eventually" whenever there are enough good games to justify the purchase. When that will be, I've no idea, as there's not even a single game on the console that I'm particularly interested in yet, and my litmus test is at least 3 important games before I'll buy hardware.

If I can (find one) I will buy one (most likely a PS4) this year (I am not a fan of pre-orders and stuff so it means walking into a store and there being at least one on the shelf). As for games, if it is a good game only on the PS3 (or if I go xbox on the PS platform) then I will get it on the PS3 but if it is on my next console I will get that instead.

As soon as pre-orders are available, I'll pay for mine in full. As far as new releases, I'll play it by ear as I will only buy a game once unless it's Fallout.

I'll be getting a PS4 on launch date and in fact I found a local family owned game store that let me pre order and put a deposit down on a PS4 already despite none of the major retailers not even taking pre orders yet.

I plan on holding onto my PS3 and I'm not one of those people who say & react "Oh my god my PS3 is losing it's value and have to sell it ASAP before the PS4 releases".

I'm DEFITNELY not going to pass up on GTA V or The Last Of Us. Waiting for and hoping for a PS4 version for those games.

Sounds like all pretty much on the same page

I'll buy the last of us for sure, then wait for PS4 before taking you all to the cleaners on the next gen cod

I'm waiting for more information before committing. Like, what happens to my PS+ account when Sony say no PSN downloads will work on PS4; will they be available via the streaming option? If so, what happens to my game saves, stuff like that.

Can I log onto PS4 with my current PS3 account, I don't believe they've actually confirmed accounts will carry over (if they have, please correct me)

So I'm in the "interested, but holding back for more info" category!
