"M" is a superb release.

Likewise Assault on Precinct 13.

Run Lola Run has a better soundtrack than the UK release.

The Russia House is also a decent transfer.

Koyaan & powaquatsi are disappointing PQ - don't bother.

You can buy the DC on Amazon.es. It's on my wishlist together with El Cuerpo.

Both worth having

Yes, the Memento German release features the superior UK transfer AND decent sound. Though the English soundtrack is Dolby, it's still solid. The UK transfer was reportedly bugged with sound problems.

Just checked out ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and it looks the business to me. Can't wait to watch it this weekend and check out the features. I'll always wonder why Austin Stoker didn't become a major star.

There's an English PCM track on there, too.

Is there? Didn't know that. Still, I don't have lossless capabilities right now, but I might still check out the 2 channel and see what it's like.

It's also a 5.1 PCM track.

I got a bit tired of waiting for a few titles to be released so I picked up:

- Lolita
- Barry Lyndon

Same style coverart as the UK releases, except the cases are the slimmer 12mm instead of the 15mm we're used to.

- Secretary

Which seems to be stuck in release limbo

- Bigger,Faster,Stronger

One of the best sports documentaries I've ever seen, regarding anabolic steroids and their common usage in American sports, with a special focus on Baseball and Pro-Wrestling which have both had very high profile steroid abuse scandals.

Also a few others which will never see the light of day over here which I intend to get soon.

- Vanishing Point
- Hair
- Inside Job

The Dances with Wolves steel book is certainly worth getting as it contains both
theatrical & directors cuts the theatrical cut IMHO looks better than the UK release.

I was also pleased to pick up 1492 & Fried Green Tomatoes two discs unlikely to be seen in the UK whilst the priority seems to be to cater for the teen & twenty something market.

I would now have as many German discs as US ones - sometimes it offers an option to get around those annoying region A locked titles.

Also a few guilty pleasure titles released here -
recently I purchased The Homecoming ( titled as" Besessen" - Mischa Barton goes psycho) , Time for Crime (aka Out of Season - the late great Dennis Hopper), and 11:14 ( the better quality release by 3L).

The fantastic German thriller The Door (Die Tur) featuring Mads Mikkelsen is released on an excellent quality blu ray disc with English subtitles

Yup, I must get around to ordering this. I think it's a lot more fun than the original.

Scream 4 Blu in Germany is the proper "theatrical" cut and has the extras (minus one deleted scene that was missing on a few releases for some reason) whilst the UK uses the "PPV" cut with re-dubbed audio and has no extras. The German release also comes in a nice steelbook case.

Because a title has been released in Germany and not the UK dos not mean it is necessarily worth importing - case in point being The Gift - name checked on an above list. Great movie but the disc from Ascot Elite has poor picture quality - average definition and in daylight scenes the colour has been bled out of the print

The Sweden/Norway/Denmark release from Scanbox is superior with better definition and richer deeper colours.

( Avoid the French release of The Gift as it has forced subtitles)

I thought consensus among the fans was that the PPV re-dub was better, but I suppose that depends on whether you want the extras...

Good point. I usually forget to check what's available in Scandinavia because Amazon is so much easier.

The MGM Fistful is poor, colour is wrong and its cropped, the German Fistful is close to the Italian, a shade darker but some people like that, http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...iID=82#auswahl > Few Dollars More was the best of the transfers in the MGM box (not difficult) and the German looks pretty much the same but five scenes run longer totalling about a minute of extra footage.
