I've been waiting for this to be finally announced for about a year. Too rich for my blood without English subs as well. To be honest, too rich judging by their release of Seven Notes In Black which was the standard Italian noisy transfer and had messed up English audio with continual phasing on the music and fx that wasn't on the Severin DVD.

I'd shudder to pay around 100 all in for the same. Form says they'll release a much cheaper hard box after but I'd rather someone else released it with all options.

Did Blue Underground lose the rights to this in the US? I thought they hinted at this on BD years ago!

They did the reverse saying the DVD sales were poor so no BD. Still, that was at a time when they stopped releasing BD's for a while so maybe their attitude has changed.

But it's so pretty...

I'm kidding. And I concur completely. I wouldn't have bought it at that price anyway, but forced subs is just another nail in the coffin.

I'm sure another label will pick this up, so doubt I'll go for the German barebones either. I would have put money on Blue Underground; I didn't know they had already dismissed the idea.

Wow... this is hilarious. This big, huge book all for a pretty good but lower tier giallo. They could have made this a collection of 3 or 4 movies at least, but E110 for one movie? AND forced subtitles?

Also keep in mind that this is 84 Entertainment too.

Overpriced and no english subs. No thanks. I'll wait for an inevitable release elsewhere.

This is one of Fulci's best films IMO.

Agree with everything but the lower tier giallo part.

Well, I buy a few German editions now and again, so I'm used to paying around 40 euros for a classic from time to time, so...yes I agree *

If I hadn't just picked this up on DVD and watched it, I might be tempted. I didn't like it so much the first time I saw it, but I actually enjoyed it quite a bit on a second viewing. I have to agree with AlexIlDottore -- it's one of Fulci's better efforts. But 110 euros for no English subs and forced German subs. No way, I can wait.

109.99 Euro.

I bought their Seven Notes release at an affordable second hand price on amazon.de ... hahahaha .... and the transfer was nothing stellar but at least the edition and extras were ok ... haaaaahahahaha .... I was hoping for Don't Torture a Duckling to get a blu-ray release ... hahahahaha .... but will continue to hope that another label will release it cheaper ... ahahahaha ... which is inevitable given this is one of Fulci's stronger movies ... ahahaha-sry I can't stop laughing at that price.

I'm tempted to grab this (Diabolik DVD have a few copies in stock) purely as a collector's piece. The forced subs and presumably inferior transfer aren't really an issue for me as I plan on swapping discs when the film hits US BD eventually (we all know it will). Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, will top this beautiful packaging!

Does this edition definitely have forced subtitles? I may buy it if it doesn't, but then I'll probably regret not being able to watch it in Italian with English subtitles.

This is a little OT, but I have some issues with this kind of packaging:

I am a German and I have to say I am not very fond of our movie distributers. Frst of, I feel like 90% of all cult movie releases are severly overpriced, mostly due to expensive packaging. Its hard to find a something under 30 Euro. Than you have those cases with "high quality" packaging like this Bible book or Cannibal holocaust where they put the movie in a metal box which again is put into a wooden box... of course also around 70 Euro. The first problem here of course is the steep price for the unique packaging, but for me honestly I hate those kind of edition, because they dont fit into the Bluray collection. It just looks odd to have a big wooden box or a big black book between normal amarays or even more regular Limited Editions like Digipacks or Boxsets.
I honestly think this one looks ugly and I would rather have it in a different package.

I personaly think the best "special" packagings are Steelbooks, because you can have clear, detailed and beautiful prints on them. For example Arrows Zombie Flesh Eaters or City of the Living Dead Steelbooks are just pure works of art! I prefer that over a big, ulgy wood box with fusy imprints or a weird black book any day.
The other, "very German", kind of packaging I like are those nice retro Hartbox editions released by X-Rated. Those look really beautiful and classy, and again you have a nice, detailed shiny cover art. Also they look nice in the collection if you have a bunch of them. Homogenious.

Than you have those "Mediabooks" released more and more here in Germany, I never bought one, but I dont really like the concept of those, I think they are a little weird, better put a separate booklet with the bluray, not a fusion of outer box and booklet, that seems inconvinient.

Christian Koch posted a video review of the set over on youtube:

It does look very nice... but E100 is still too much for just one movie.
