You are probably right but I suspect we may never see 100 Mbps, maybe tops 70 in the future.

But UHD HDR streaming crushed to 8 Mbps is just as good right? *snort*

Well, Hollywood post houses are capable of "superbit" like compression jobs with peak A/V bitrates almost to the maximum allowable under BDA specs and some titles have done just that. More bitrate means less pre-filtering needed.

That means they could theoretically push past 100 Mbps if they wanted to create "superbit" UHD discs and fill up a BD-100 with an average sized movie. Of course, for those lazy bones out there... a longer movie like Watchmen would need two discs.

After all, this is supposed to be a "premium" product. Right??

---

I mean come on, didn't you know that Netflix and Amazon 4k is just as good as discs?

Seriously though, their "4k" is more like sorta okay filtered 1080p, but with banding. I see a lot of banding and macroblocking.

Kinda spiking the ball here but I get told it is 'just as good' more often now rather then less no matter how I explain it is wrong...

From previous announcements from the OP that haven't really been happening as of late, I won't believe it until I see actual evidence.

VUDU doesn't list it in Dolby Atmos, so I think the disc itself won't have it too.

Warner's isn't much on remixing in Atmos like Sony does.

Some of these films that have already been released on BD-66 should probably have been on BD-100's anyway with maxed out bitrates even without them dealing with branching. They're pushing a point even with HDR10 and 10 bit video with bitrates in the 40-50 Mbps range. I've worked with 4k video and HEVC before. You need more than that.
There is no gap, the 66GB and 100GB discs have the exact same bitrates available to them, as the transfer rates are limited by the size of the layers (25GB vs 33GB) and not the size of the discs.

Yay for the Ultimate Cut though!

We should have anticipated it, since there was really never any doubt about going full Dick Cheney with Batman v Superman.

I hope the director's cut is included. Whilst neither cuts are completely fool-proof, the director's cut had a much better flow than the ultimate cut IMO, much more streamlined.

I told someone back in April that this would be released along with B v S. It was too easy to see it coming since it was already on VUDU and had the same director...

I'm kind of surprised they haven't announced "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." for the same day.

Maybe Man From U.N.C.L.E. will get released next spring when Guy Ritchie's King Arthur movie(also from WB) hits theaters.

Ah that's a good guess. Not that I'm dying for it in UHD though, still haven't even cracked open my BD.

Ultimate Cut? I only want the DC. The UC feels really jarring and with pacing issues with the animated sections.

I personally loved the animated segments. Sure it didn't fit with the rest of the movie but its still an awesome part of the Watchmen story and an amazingly dark piece of animation that I would love to have in high dynamic range

I really dug the Ultimate Cut when I watched it last, so having it on UHD suits me fine.

But who knows, studios like putting out bombs for the first months of a new format, since they figure it's the only way someone will buy those movies, when early adopters are hungry for more discs.
Earlier this year, I considered the fact that WB might release the two Sherlock films around either the theatrical or home video release of "Captain America: Civil War", but with a third Sherlock film probably being released next year, they might wait.

I still think U.N.C.L.E. could be released this year, but if not, I think Adam_ME might be right.

What does 'full Dick Cheney' mean? The full monty or being buck shot in the face?
