Look at the faces in this shot.

This actually doesn't look as bad as I thought it would, but it still looks like lots of wasted potential. Narf.

Should I keep the Korean edition or is the German better even with the DNR?

I currently have only 6 UHDs (Perfume is one of them), and that scene with the many red roses has the most visually striking colors I've experienced on this format so far. The reds in that scene are insanely intense. I'm not sure if they're supposed to be that intense in the source material.

Is the included Blu-ray region free, or just the UHD? Also, where's the best place to get the UHD?

All UHD Blu-rays worldwide are region-free, but not sure if the regular Blu-ray is region-free or not. Also you may wanna try Ebay or German version of Amazon, those are your best bets for buying movies from Germany.

Fake 4K UHD movie, look this

https://4kmedia.org/real-or-fake-4k/2/

Perfume: The Story Of A Murderer – Fake 4K, HDR

I don`t know they get it info about, but I think that is 2K and upscale.

Unfortunately not. Still worth it. Generally immaculate diction in the English dialogue.

Upscale or not, it seems to have a more visible improvement in detail over the BD than other 2K upscales I've seen.

Not to my eye. The grain is gone, just some weird digital noise in the dark scenes. I’ll pick the Japanese blu ray over this UHD any day, unfortunately. But of course, it’s not a T2 level

Sure does. Another case where one could base everything on screencaps and be totally wrong. But, he can stick with his Japanese Blu-Ray, lol...

I grabbed this when I could get it dirt cheap and it looks awfully smoothed to me in motion as well. Prefer my BD and should've known better. There are a few scenes that look good, but the majority looks smoothed - maybe not like hell, but bad enough.

tl/tr: Looks ugly and not like film in motion.

I prefere the UHD to the BD. The latter looks blurry in comparison and with worse colour.
