Lots of fighting games drew their inspiration from SF II's control scheme, like all those SF II clones by SNK for example.
But the difference is it's not a requirement in MK. It is a requirement in SF. I'd much rather just do down, forward, but that doesn't work in SF.

Because it's just dumb fun. Plus it was such a big part of our childhood.

I had to go to the Japanese website for this info, since Capcom isn't saying a darn thing on their US site.

http://www.capcom.co.jp/usf2/

If you go to the bottom of the page it says it's 4,990 Yen for the "packaged" version and 4,620 for the "download" version.

4,990 Yen is about $44.

So it will be on a game card, and it will be around $44.

they said it's $40 when it was first announced, which is a joke, it should be $20

At least $40 isn't $60. I'm still gonna end up buying it. Now all I need is for NetherRealm Studios to announce a new (retro looking) Mortal Kombat game for the Switch and I can finally relive my childhood.

In the early 90s, Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat were the two titles everyone played on the daily.

First, it’s now officially confirmed that Ultra Street Fighter II will have a new first-person mode. This was originally teased in the game’s debut trailer last month. It’s a unique game mode called “Unleash! Ha”DO”ken”, and is specialized for use with the Joy-Con controllers in a first-person view.

The box also shows that Ultra Street Fighter II will have some sort of art gallery. Players can view over 250 pages of artwork.

As one final note, the box contains a logo for the MT Framework engine. It does appear that Capcom’s mainstream engine is capable of producing Switch software.

It's not like the series went anywhere. MK had a rough time in the 2000s but since MK9 they have been killing it. No to mention that Injustice is tailor-made for MK fans and is very successful.

SF on the other hand laid dormant for 7 years between SF III and SF IV. While SF IV wasn't my cup of tea, it was objectively a good and complete game. So instead of building off that, Capcom goes and rush out SF V and dies a premature death.

Had they been more confident in their product, Capcom would have waited for UE4 support to mature on the Switch and release their latest iteration of the franchise as opposed to cashing in with nostalgia with an SF II HD Remix port.

It is not a port of HD Remix. If you watched the treehouse live stream, you would know that. There are features of HD Remix not present in this game, it plays more like Turbo than it does HD Remix.

It might play differently, but the sprites are recycled from that release. And that 1st person mode looks more of a tech demo than anything. If anything, ARMS looks very similar but way more polished.

But again, then I remembered that Sony partially funded the development of SF V, which prevents it to be ported to other consoles. I guess that’s for the best. At least Arc System Works is bringing a Blazblue game to the Switch.

Recycled sprites doesn't make it a port.... do you know what it "port" means? It would be the exact same game if it's a port.

What does being old have to do with quality. Besides, make a list of the best video games of all time and they would mostly come from the late 80s/early 90s.

Is the US not getting the physical game? Amazon only has the digital code up for pre-order. Do I actually have to import this thing?

Probably just not listed yet. It hasn't even popped up on other sites yet. It was the official Street Fighter Twitter that posted the artwork of the physical copy.

I downloaded the demo for Puyo Puyo Tetris from the Japanese eShop. It's fun, but I wish the English version was also a launch title. Oh well, I'll get it eventually.

Because people who buy new consoles typically dont do so for old re hashed games. Pretty much every console generation since the 16 bit era has had one variation or another of this game and yet the Nintendo defense force wants to act like this is actually something new and unique to be excited about. I dont get it. Its JUST SF II people and its not like its an uber rare commodity that we havent seen in a million different variations already. What exactly makes you excited for this?

I don't like the new Street Fighters. III was ok, but I didn't care for IV and V. II is my favorite one, and being able to play it on the go is awesome.
