Paul,

They get their source material from Universal USA. They are the one who do the restoration/transfer to HD. The foreign distributors only do the packaging and take the financial risk.

i might be in on this once the price drops and the reviews are in. I love the artwork reminds me of the old action figure boxes. Whats that on the left of steve, it look like a busted lamp, but i assume is the before shot of limb post accident before bionic replacement.

It might be Universal creating HD masters but it will likely be the foreign label that does the actual encoding onto disc. It won't be Universals decision to put 9 episodes on a disc for example. Regardless of how good restorations are they can easily get screwed up by the time they end up on disc depending on decisions made by the company putting the discs out.
Universal shows released by Mill Creek in the US and FF in the UK will likely all have the same source but it will be down to Mill Creek how much they want to compress the material so they can use fewer discs and charge less

Honestly, it's ok to argue over something that you've experienced first hand. But in this case we've done quite some tests to find out about compression. Don't forget the show is 4x3 (unused black picture information left and right which can be heavily compressed) plus it's a 1970s show, with relatively few edits in scenes, hence not that much data rate needed to save changes in the picture unless it's an action sequence. And even these are mostly slomo, to support the bionic effect.

So, I'd recommend waiting for reviews. We're also happy to send samples to the usual suspects.

Our plan was to make an affordable set, so 12 discs it is. Atm.
Thanks for the feedback. I think this will be a great release anyway.

I suspect not. On the plus side, I bet we will see a version of this set in the U.S. eventually.

With Turbine releases, sometimes the authoring studio has a glitch and forgets to put region coding on. As happened with eXistenZ, Crying Freeman or Johnny Mnemonic.

l'homme qui valait 3 milliards...
http://www.dvdclassik.com/forum/view...4401&start=600

Elephant Films of France is also supposed to be releasing the Six Million Dollar Man on blu-ray as well. Last I heard, Elephant Films was getting 'newer' HD scans of the SMDM from Universal for the blu-ray. Looks like they won't make their projected release date of 2018.

Perhaps the France release may happen sometime in 2019. We'll have to wait and see...

The French have a habit of forcing subs but it would be of interest if they don't cram 9 episodes on a single disc although I think I may give the German set a go just to see what its like

Another Universal series, Columbo got a complete series release in Japan in 2011. Although a couple of other countries have given season sets a go there's nothing for the US so I wouldn't hold your breath

We have seen your 'Water Margin / Die Rebellen vom Liang Shan Po'-Complete Series Collection and the compression wasn't good at all.

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/movies.php?studioid=669

Blu-ray.com "currently" has 93 blu-ray listings from Turbine Medien; some of which are standard definition on blu-ray. I'm a usual suspect, but since I have no connections— (no freebie) samples being sent my way— I'm going to hold off until more information surfaces on the Elephant Films 'France' blu-ray addition...

...of course, unless the reviews are 'high' on this one.

So what's your point? The "SD on BluRay" are clearly labeled as such. The 6 Million Dollar Man is explicitly marketed as being in "real HD".

You only 'partially' quoted me.
My point is, I've never heard of Turbine Medien until these handful of posts. Turbine appears to be "relatively small" to the blu-ray market. My entire post indicated that there is another blu-ray option in the making for the SMDM television series.

This upcoming Turbine Medien release "may" turn out to be a lemon. If that should be the case, it's nice that consumers have another possible buying option... (L'Homme qui Valait 3 Milliards) from Elephant Films of France.

Personally, I did a little online research quite some time ago in order to find out about Elephant Films' upcoming SMDM blu-ray release. I found nothing about it here on Blu-ray.com when I conducted my search.

The average English speaking consumer may find this information helpful, and many Blu-ray.com members that we come across in these forums don't speak French and may find this information helpful also.

....which is the claim.
I'm not sure there's a single "real HD" release of anything anywhere in the world with 9 tv hours on a single disc.
This sort of show usually has 5 or 6 per disc so trepidation about quality is natural when there's going to be 9.
Only time will tell if it's a false economy for Turbine.
If there are any shortcomings because of the amount on each disc it won't take long for sales to drop through the floor, specially if the French release is better.
But I am cautiously hopeful

Not seen it mentioned on here so worth noting that the reunion films will be SD as expected.
According to the Amazon listing it looks like the last one will also only have English audio.

Not sure if all the bonus features from the dvd's are being carried over. Can someone from Turbine confirm please.

Currently 90 euros so without a UK or US release on the horizon it will be hard to skip this one

AFAIK, actually the last two films will have English audio with German subtitles (as they were never released in Germany and didn't have a dub). The first reunion movie was released on VHS and was dubbed into German.

Turbine has been around for years. Just because YOU haven't heard of them doesn't make them "relatively small" to the market. And it "may be a lemon"? Thanks for the insight, based really on not much of anything other than "I haven't heard of them before so I'm going to piss all over them despite my limited knowledge."
