All this talk of torrenting and trying to justify it in this forum, to a label rep no less, because somebody simply doesn't want to pay for the set is almost as off putting as some dude killing his mum and then dressing up in her clothes.

Well, myself, being a huge "Psycho" and Hitchcock and Anthony Perkins fan, I will be very happy and excited to get this set.

Heck, I've already got all the films, except for "Psycho" uncut, the "Bates Motel" film, and the newer "Psycho" remake. I've got the four original films.

But I still want this set.

If this is the one by Rob Galluzzo then yes, it's aboard, plus a ton of other stuff.

Excuse me, but you answered all the other questions except mine on English subtitles (and the size of the box). That makes me worry a tiny little bit now. Will there be English subtitles for all the six features?

Excuse me, but you gotta read:

I also replied re audio etc.; subs are going to be there to the extent we have them. Which means I would say yes if I was 100% sure. There's no reason to leave them out but I don't know if all English subs are available to us. My assumption would be yes.

Ever since I read about this uncut German variant a few years ago, I have been really interested in the backstory behind it, which nobody seemed entirely clear about. Was this actually officially released in theaters in Germany? Where did this print come from? Anyway, thanks for giving it an official release!

This version was the official German version (with localized opening and ending credits as well as a reshot scene of the closeup of a letter). It was source for (uncut) TV airings as well as VHS version from CIC in 1984 (which was censored elsewhere though).

According to Melonfarmers, the British VHS from the 1980s also contained these additional scenes (and was uncut in the shower scene, as opposed to the UK theatrical).
The Hitchcock/Truffaut book also contains shots of the "taking the bra off" scene.

So the big guess is, these scenes might have been absent just from the US versions. However, once the DVD and BluRay came along, all countries suddenly had just the US cut. And because these cuts were rather insignificant compared to the Shower Scene™, nobody noticed or cared.

AFAIK Turbine managed to track down the German 35mm print used for creating the TV master aired last time at Bayerischer Rundfunk in 2014.

Very funny. It's not just about the money. I have Arrow's Psycho II (which cost me 7.50 direct from the distributor, in case you're wondering) and no interest in any of the other sequels. So, yeah, for people like me, it's a total waste of money AND shelf space. It's not that I can't afford the box set, I don't WANT it. But go ahead, make fun of me. Suck up to the distributors. You're their target not me. I've made my point and have no more to say.

Who cares how much an Arrow disc cost you?

Yeah you've made your point and tried to justify piracy on here. It's pathetic. Either you buy or you don't.

BTW, I'm not gonna pay for the box as I only want the first, but I don't go posting like a grumpy kid, and I won't pirate it either.

I hope they release the uncut disc on its own.
I dont want to re buy the rest when they are identical to current releases.

They're not.
Turbine stated:
"So for clarification... ALL discs are fresh discs, no ready-made discs have been used. Every single film is newly authored and compressed. Also the remake (but I am going to double check)."

Day one if the alternate edit is available separately. It is unknown how this happened but I'll place my money on Universal preparing a master without research since they have continually not given their Hitchcock library proper respect.

PSYCHO really needs a proper release of the 1.33 framing as well because IMO it works better in most instances that way...one can dream right?
IMO PSYCHO in 1.33 works better than 1.85 whereas Touch of Evil has moments that look good in 1.33 but plays better in 1.85. I've seen both projected both ways in theaters. Ironically the 1.33 Psycho framing has always had matte bars added to the shower scene in case anything showed through which it didn't.

Turbine,

If you are able to at this stage could you please confirm what the running time will be for the uncut / European version.

As always, many thanks.

If PSYCHO (uncut) was 20 solo, just 50 sales (which you would get from this thread alone) would be a 1,000.

Instead you miss out on 1,000 and create 50 new torrent users.

Do I want PSYCHO? Yes. Am I paying 150 for a box set I don't want ? No. But then you know your market, right?

The only arrogance I see is in your post.
Jesus.

When I used the term arrogant I was referring to this comment:

"For those just looking for Psycho, there is a Psycho release available in every territory. It's correct it's not the uncut version, but that is (just being honest here) not our concern."

But, yeah, queue up to judge me, whatever... I'm done here.

AlexIlDottore, babybreese you guys get it.
I don't know why, but I am always shocked at people on forums and facebook groups advocating torrenting. As a collector of physical media, that type of thing is against everything I'm about.

Super excited to purchase this collection next year. Fans of the 'Psycho' films will finally be able to own a worthwhile collection compiled with a lot of TLC. Thank you, Turbine!

The uncut version of Psycho deserves a separate release. I'm not one for telling the labels that "I know better" but Psycho is one of the greatest films ever made and none of its sequels are essential. If Turbine choose to only release it as part of the box set, it's their call but they're losing serious potential sales.
Universal should be ashamed that somebody else has taken the initiative to release this.
