99 times out of 100 it's fairly obvious the film was intended for scope and the added space is empty nonsense. I'd rather just see it how it was actually framed.

There are exceptions though like M:I Fallout.

Pretty much the reason I’ve switched to Dolby Cinema and have given up on IMAX unless it’s 70mm. Dolby Cinema is better picture, not more.

It was my least favorite scene in any Marvel movie yet.

Have to agree the airport scene had mediocre cgi. Definitely will pick this up but it's not in my top 5 comic book movies.

Good. This is the only Marvel movie I don't own since I decided at that point not to buy any more non-4K releases. I made an exception for Dr. Strange as I thought it would be good in 3D.

This is also one of the most "flat" looking of the MCU movies, so I'm hoping the HDR will improve it a lot.

I'd have to agree. I'm hoping they will make the effort to improve upon the "flattness" of the look.

Regarding the movie, it was certainly one that I enjoyed, but aside from a couple of scenes, I'd say retrospectively it was less interesting to me than many other MCU titles. The Airport scene was fun, but it wasn't really epic, I think Age of Ultron's fights overshadowed it the year prior. However, the fight between Cap, Iron Man, and Winter Soldier was cooler and felt more epic than the airport scene.

The 3D version certainly improves the flat visuals

3D improves the dimensionality of the image, but the overall look of the film (colors, contrast, etc.) is still "flat."

Yeah I've seen you mock this term before, but it's a totally different thing than 3D that we're talking about. Like aetherhole said, it's about contrast and color, two things Marvel films are renown for being iffy on and this was one of their worst offenders.

HDR has really helped their movies so far.

You even liked horrible final fight from Black Panther with CGI straight from 90's more than this? Yikes.

Have you ever seen any 90s movie with CGI? If we're comparing superhero movies, Black Panther's CGI isn't even close to being as bad as Spawn's.
