It would have to look better with an HDR/DV pass. There are a lot of flares, explosions, disgusting goop, and daylight scenes to take advantage of it. Plus, that creepy soundtrack would benefit from an atmos/dts:x track as well. The older Carpenter's turned out pretty good in 4k so I have high hopes for this one.

If you like Michael Mann's crime stuff (Heat, Collateral, Thief) then I can't imagine not loving Miami Vice as well.

We need to make it look like we are shooting .50 rifles at the cars.
How do we do that?
Lets shoot .50 cal rifles at some cars.

I think I’m one of the only people who thought MV was amazing. It was my favourite show growing up and felt the movie captured the show perfectly.

It's a killer movie (theatrical cut for the win). The look, the soundtrack, gah! I fell in love with it immediately. I was in Mexico at the time it was released and the power to the cinema kept cutting out, eliciting groans from the audience . The guy in the booth had to reset each time it happened. I went back to see it multiple times since there weren't many other english movies playing.

Would The Thing 4k be enough of an improvement over Arrows The Thing release? As in Ł25 to upgrade.....Again! improvement?

Casino, MV, Backdraft and Hulk (as I’m still on dvd for that) day ones.

Buying within a year:
2. Field of Dreams
3. Casino
5. Hulk
8. Waterworld
10. Hellboy II
12. Fast Five

Buying just when I can:
1. Backdraft
7. The Scorpion King
9. The Thing (1982)
13. Shaun of the Dead
16. Miami Vice
17. Wanted
18. Hot Fuzz

My first list is 6 catalog films. If there is 6 high profile catalog releases a year that I purchase I think after 5 years that would cover my current wishlist of Universal films. So this is good news if this is how the year pans out for the studio...

I was in film school when it came out. I think I watched the trailer 100 times. Years before it came out I was the night supervisor at a video rental place. Me and my buddy would play the VHS of the pilot over and over. MV and Magnum were easily my favourite shows as a youngster.

I actually prefer in the Directors cut. In the Air Tonight. Come on!!!

Out of all of them, the absolute 5 titles I'm looking forward to the most is The Thing (1982 version), American Gangster, Hellboy II, Shaun of the Dead, and The Scorpion King.

Calling BS on this list. Miami Vice? 47 Ronin? Worlds End? None of these titles would make a lick of sense. "Insider" indeed!!

Releasing the third part of the cornetto trilogy at the same time as the first two makes a lot of sense. Probably in a nice box set too.

If we get Vice, Casino, and the Thing this year, it’s reason enough to get out of bed M-F.

I get where you're coming from but I assume the Mummy movies were solid sellers on the format, hence the release of The Scorpion King. If it's going to turn a profit for them, who are we to argue?

And Keanu is currently riding high with the John Wick movies (Part 3 almost upon us), so I can also see the logic behind the 47 Ronin release. A little more eye candy action starring Keanu seems like a safe bet.

Fair points Phil, I'm just cheesed off as it's my favourite

Obviously Jaws is a safe bet for the format, just get tired of waiting when the likes of E.T., CE3K and every other major Spielberg flick is already out or on it's way.

Hopefully something is planned for later in the year or most probably 2020.
