Is it just me or is this a terrific sale for USA customers?

Assuming one finds titles under €10, which is easy to do given there are thousands to choose from, and if VAT is removed from that sale total, it should be easy to get titles for $6 plus shipping each. Amazon Germany has good USA shipping prices so as long as one is buying a decent amount in a single order, even after shipping price should be around $6.50 each for titles that sell for €10 or under.

And the Amazon site is working and sorting everything perfectly making browsing the sale titles a joy rather than obnoxious like it usually is for me. It is loading 60 titles per page and the sorting based on price is working as it should. It will be enjoyable going through the genres and sale titles for once.

Thank you Ukev.

Dammit, I got sucked into another sale! This one was WAY too good to pass up! I went with:

CUTTHROAT ISLAND (far better transfer than the U.S. release)
THE EDGE (better transfer than the U.S. one)
HAMLET (1990) (no other BD in the world)
PRISONERS (different bonus features from the U.S. release)
THE ROVER (different bonus features from the U.S. release)

I desperately wanted THE GHOST AND THE DARKNESS but they refuse to ship that one to America. ☹️

What does 5 for 3 mean? Pay for the three highest priced titles and get the two lower priced titles for free?

Yes -- if you do 5 equal priced items it's a 40% discount.

I haven't checked but if you order 10 or 15 they tend to group them to you benefit -- I think they just order them from most expensive to least and item 5/10/15 are free rather than the 2 or 3 least expensive being free

Grabbed Hotel Artemis as well, and then Season 2 and 3 of Robin Hood (the 2006 BBC series) in Blu-ray. The latter I had put off because they were done with two parts a piece (hence 4 titles total) but then it's the only way to get them in Blu-Ray to my knowledge. I originally was going to do primarily 4ks, but alas trying to keep the spending low and get items I really want.

Anyone know of any decent recent horror movies that only had a release in Germany? So far I found Summer of 84 (BD-R in the States) and He's Out There.

I've started to come across titles that say "does not ship to U.S." It's not a secondary seller, it's directly from Amazon. I first saw it last month on Six Degrees of Separation. Now I see it on Ghost and the Darkness and Study in Terror.

Is anyone else getting this? Do you know any details about why it's started?

I donít understand what the hell is going on with that, but Iíve experienced it a couple times too. During the last sale, I tried getting Undisputed 2 with it and it wouldnít ship to the US. But just a couple days ago, I bought the movie as a solo item (it was only 4.99 before VAT removal) and there was no issue at all.

Amazon UK and Zavvi are doing similar things on certain titles too. It seems to come and go. I'm not sure if there's a method to the madness or why that is.

Yes, this is what they do. They group them in 5's by price and then give you the cheapest two from each group of 5. You will save a bit in shipping with one larger order vs. several orders of 5 and you can't combine them to your benefit with the free titles any better than they do it.

I've no idea if they're decent or not, but Germany definitely gets a fair number of horror releases that aren't issued in the US on BD, or sometimes anywhere else at all. Here are a few off the top of my head that are included in the sale:

Not that I know of. "4K"/UHD BD titles will all be region free because the format doesn't have region coding. Of course it's unclear if the discs are the same as the US releases or you'll get an English Atmos track on the German version like the US disc has. You have to look up each title in the listings here and compare. A few that I looked at appeared to be the same for an English Atmos track, but I only checked a few titles.

For everything else you can look on the listing here by setting your locale to Germany next to the search bar and looking it up and seeing if there's any region coding reports for the titles, but that's not exactly fast nor comprehensive.

Someone on Slickdeals posted this:

Filme = movies, Importe = imports

Just find the same one as the Amazon copy and it will give you the correct region code. It's a little clunky , but as far as I can remember, it has never been incorrect (don't quote me on that).
It might help some

I thought this would be a great choice for me as well. However, on closer inspection it seems that Set 1 is not available for this promotion and a couple of other sets have problems with being English friendly. Per the reviews, Set 5 has no English audio/subtitle options and on Set 6 only The Strange Countess has English audio. I realize that Amazon is notorious for bad specs and reviewers can get things wrong, so I'm hopeful that you, or someone else, know something to the contrary in this case. I have a region-free player, so that is no factor. Also, when you ordered, was Set 1 one of your items? As I said, it's not there now and I'm wondering if it is something that might become available again later. As it stands right now, I'm short two films to qualify for this promotion and I can't find any other titles I want in that price range (31.99). My introduction to krimi films may have to wait a bit longer.
