BRDC has the full article up: https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=25119

looks like an AMAZING release, but please please please let it have Dobly so I'm spared the worst of StudioCanal's encoding!

Anyone care to hazard a guess on what footage Stone deemed in need of being dropped from his final cut?

He mentioned removing something from the ending, I haven't seen the movie in yonks so I've no idea what's there to even start speculating about it.

Val Kilmer should have won an Oscar for this performance. Day One.

___________

Overall, due to Pamela's family controlling the music rights for Jim, it's a fairly whitewashed story. I like it a lot but it could have been much better.

Did I mention Val Kilmer was robbed?

Watch the documentary that will be included with the film. It says the same things that the film does. Nearly everything written about Jim was the same, including Densmore and Mazerek's books. The band signed off on both the film and the doc, before later condemning the film.

Morrison was a drunk. He was also a genius.

Like most biopic's there's a certain amount of bullshite and exaggeration going on but the way Morrison is portrayed is massively over the top.

You could debate what he was really like for an eternity, frustrated poet, intellectual genius or alcoholic prima-donna...

It's a great flick though and I'm highly anticipating the UHD.

I met John Densmore in 1991 whilst promoting his book in Birmingham, I asked him about the Movie and he said he liked it although it was Stone's vision and not what really happened. He liked Kilmer but he was like a cartoon version of Jim.

Even though Densmore & Krieger were consultants on the show Densmore has also said "Theyíre going to take a six-year career and cram it into two hours, then blow it up to the size of two-story building, Itís not going to be the truth!",

So many books about The Doors out there but I'd say Danny Sugarman's No One Here Get's Out Alive & Densmore's Riders On The Storm remain the best, saying that I have yet to read Manzarek's book.

Will this be an all Region release, meaning the blu-rays discs aren't region locked?

StudioCanal region lock their regular Blu Rays. There will be a US 4K release but I have no clue if Lionsgate will offer a remastered Blu.

I would recommend Jim Morrison: Life, Death, Legend

Densmore also wrote a book about his trying to prevent the degradation of The Doors legacy and his court issues with Kreiger and Manzarek
The Doors: Unhinged. A very interesting read.

I don't think Lionsgate has said. As far as I know they haven't even announced it yet. It isn't on their website.
