Default Paramount "essentials" coming in 2020 (?)

On the Kino Lorber thread, their representative has recently posted that Paramount will apparently be releasing what they call their "essentials" on Blu-ray in 2020. It's at post 34208 on this page:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...1616&page=1711

Does anyone know what Paramount regard as their "essential" titles, and whether they might include classic titles that haven't been released on Blu-ray previously?

We all know that Paramount have been sitting on numerous titles that have never appeared on Blu-ray, so this could possibly be an exciting development. Some of their titles that I would love to have on Blu include 'The Parallax View', 'Catch-22', 'Ragtime', 'The Two Jakes', 'Heartburn' and 'Hud'.

I hope by " Essentials " they mean Vistavision 50's and 1960 classics that I have been waiting for forever. And the 1952 Best Picture .. The Greatest Show on Earth !

Would have thought Roman Holiday and War of the Worlds would be up there as "essential".

Catch-22 is at the top of my list, but I don't know if it's an essential, I hope so. I'm thinking stuff like, The Greatest Show On Earth, War Of The Worlds, Roman Holiday, the four John Wayne films, Donovan's Reef/In Harm's Way/The Sons Of Katie Elder/The Shootist (In Harm's Way would be my choice there), Paint Your Wagon. Anyway, I hope it happens.

Does anyone know if this will be a MOD BD line like Sony, Lionsgate, etc. I have a feeling it will and I hope so as the back catalog Paramount has is nothing short of amazing would be great if they could start a MOD BD line. Still take it with a grain of salt.

Nice list there SammymeBlu, out of your list I would purchase Top Secret!, Fire In The Sky, Breakdown, Eddie Murphy Raw, Frankie and Johnny, Another 48 Hours, Some Kind Of Wonderful, Beavis and Butthead Do America, Gung Ho and Narc. Also absent on your list is The Golden Child I would love to have that one on BD.

I already have imports of King Kong 76, A Simple Plan (German BD).

I do hope Paramount might be starting a MOD BD line but it's speculative for now but also makes perfect sense since they have an amazing back catalog of movies not released in HD. They have nothing to lose with MOD BD, so I hope this pans out.
