The Amazon 1080p version is cut in S6x01 ep What a complete travesty its cut in the scene where Willow kills the deer in her sacrifice to sace buffy. You do not see the deers legs struggling or its head pops up and Willow having a hard time killing it.

Talk about messed up. So this episode is nowhere UNCUT in 1080p version. I believe its UNCUT on the DVD set for the states. So why in the hell would they cut the amazon 1080p version

It's the syndicated version, only the first UPN broadcast and the dvds used the full unsplit version. Everytime I saw the episode somewhere else (Netflix, Itunes, TV reruns...) it was split into 2 parts and a few minutes shorter.
But it's the only episode that isn't uncut. The musical is also shorter on syndication, but the HD version is the full one.

If I remember correctly, 6x01 and 6x02 also have scenes in a different order than the full unsplit DVD version. Wouldn't be able to tell you which one(s) though, off the top of my head.

I believe Amazon also had 6x07 in its syndicated version, not sure if that's still the case

Amazon 1080p is definitely the short one. Once more with Feeling is missing whole montages. The ep only run for 43 min. What a ****ing Outrage
Where is the musical ep fully uncut only on the dvd ?

This show needs to be put out on Blu-Ray fully uncut already

It will only happen if Whedon gets involved, which tbh it seems like he doesn't care enough. Meanwhile the US DVDs are the only way to watch the show, even if it's standard definition.

So the Amazon 1080p versions has been pulled ?
Is that a good indication a Blu-Ray release is coming up

I meant the "correct" way. I don't know about Amazon. I think only UK has it.

There is only SD versions there no HD of any seasons of Buffy

Also why is season 6 plagued with cuts - Bargaining, OMWF and Tabula Rasa. I do not think there is cuts in other seasons or other ep right ?

Because Bargaining and OMWF were given a longer runtime by UPN, too long to be shown on syndication without cuts apparently.
Tabula Rasa should be intact though, what is missing?

I see. But a freakin Amazon version should definitely be uncut. They have nothing to do with syndication

The only bad part of doing a Buffy re-watch is knowing you have to endure the old DVDs, especially for Seasons 1 and 2. *sigh*

For those first two seasons, does anyone know if there's a better alternative than the DVDs? Amazon, iTunes, Hulu or any calibration tricks to mitigate the dark and smeary mess that they look like on the DVDs.

I think with the new show (not a reboot, new slayer in same universe) coming out next year we might finally get a blu Ray

The thing is, we haven't heard a damn thing about any sort of "re-do" on the remastering effort that was previously "attempted." I'm probably just frustrated but it feels like this show gets minimal love in the HD department.

Has Whedon ever come out and said anything about this happening or fixing what was previously screwed up?

So frustrating..

Every excuse from him that I have seen has been about how the show was never been meant to be seen in widescreen format. I don't care. They can still remaster it in full screen as many other older shows on BD have done. HD doesn't have to be widescreen.

Exactly this. I've seen anime and cartoons that look wonderful in their original aspect ratio, so I am not sure why there was a call to try converting this to widescreen. Bleh...

Man, I had this entire series on DVD but went on a high def phase when I thought all sd is garbage on a widescreen full hd tv (not exactly untrue, but still), and therefore I shouldn't hold on to it (if I don't watch it regularly I should probably sell it and make a few extra bucks, right?). I thought: surely BtVS will be released on HD soon, I mean every other show seems to be getting the high def treatment, it's just a matter of time... Sigh. What a fool. And I even had the Chosen Collection edition. LOL

Yeah, I know I'm looking forward to seeing this get totally trashed by a hideous modern reboot.

Cue all the "how do you know it's going to be bad?"
Because it's the current year, that's how.
