Sorry to get involved but it's easy to buy the German and mux the subs from the Well Go and voila, 3D with English and no pirating.

Ralph Breaks the Internet 3D Review

Quote:
Without a doubt, Ralph Breaks the Internet has one of the best animated 3D presentations I've seen. Some of the sequences are stunning with the way in which Ralph and Vanellope are tossed into the "internet" and all of its strange wonder. It's hard to believe the 3D presentation was almost passed over and is now a Japan exclusive release. 3D fans owe it to themselves to import it and experience the film in the best way possible. It's even better than the original.
Neil Lumbard's 3D review score is 5 out of 5

Yeah, I dunno about one of the best 3D presentations ever seen (I suspect he hasn't seen a lot), but it's definitely great compared to the 2D version.

Price hasn't changed much since release other than the exchange rate being a little worse (110 vs 106Y/USD now) -- between $63-66 shipped to the US depending on your payment form

If you go to the last checkout page, you should be able to see the USD worst case equivalent using Amazon Currency Converter.
Pay with a regular CC with a 3% currency exchange fee in Japanese Yen and it will be a little cheaper
Pay with a Cap One or otehr CC with 0% FOREX fee and it's closer to 63

Would a moderately large group buy with members splitting up the shipping costs help to reduce the cost at all?

I don't think it's the shipping that makes it expensive. Besides, unless your large group are close enough to meet in person (gas costs add up fast too as I'd remind people who drive 5 extra miles to save 2 cents per gallon)., you'd still have to get the discs to the other group members.

Not really, you will still be looking at $50+. Japanese imports are expensive, always been since VHS.

Not much:

1 item is $9 (2-3 day express)
3 items would be around $6ea
10 items would be about $4ea
20 items would be around $3.60ea

Figuring minimum $3 to reship, your savings would be $2 per title not even counting packing, time, paypal fees, etc

Thanks for the perspectives. I guess I’d be more willing to drop that amount of scratch if it was a premium package with Fullslips and Collector cards/booklets.

Uh, no offense to Neil, but this is completely overwrought. It's a very nice 3D presentation, and very enjoyable. Best? Nope.

Neil certainly seems to enjoy 3D more that the other Reviewers on this Site...but he also knocked Venom due to “ghosting”, which we know is related to equipment not the encoding. Although I’d give the 3D in this movie a 4/5 I still prefer his 3D reviews to any of the other “pros” on this site.

Quick question, but how much of the film's actual content (on-screen text, titles, etc) has been re-rendered in Japanese? I'd like to get hold of this film in 3D, but not to the extent of it having Japanese text visible during the film (I assume the menus/etc are Japanese, that's fine).

The version of the film with English-rendered on-screen text exists on the discs in the set alongside the Japanese version, and will play automatically when you choose to watch the film in English.

Excellent, thank you. This seems to be the only way to find the 3D version anywhere in the world. Such a sensible idea that if they consider a sole 3D release to be no longer viable (fair enough, diminishing market) just bundle it as a bonus disc with the 4K release, then everyone is happy. Disney UK, please take note!

Hmm, anyone got any thoughts on this? I was looking to see if I could get that Japanese version on eBay, and several listings for a Malasian version in 3D popped up. Genuine or not do you reckon? I do rather have my doubts, but there are a number of different listings for it. That said, if Disney UK are stupid enough to refuse to take my money for it legally, my usual absolute rule about never funding pirate copies is perhaps less solid than it would otherwise be...

Those are fake. Without a shadow of a doubt.
