Disney at their laziest and most generic, this title and that synopsis could be applied to most sci-fi or fantasy movies out there.

Well, perhaps yes. But lets give it a chance, shall we?

In her review of 'Turning Red', Grace Randolph revealed that WDAS's next two films might feature openly LGBTQ+ characters.
One movie would have a non-binary character and the other an openly gay character, and could be a protagonist.

UGH!!! Why can't the people just be PEOPLE? Without all the hashtags and labels. I can understand the whole representation thing to a point, but very few, if any, movies have characters that represent me. I'd like to think I am more nuanced and complex to be boiled down to a hashtag or two. I guess I'm different in that I don't need or look for movies to validate my whole plane of existence. I realize I am simplifying the whole thing, but I have to leave in a minute to go get my ears shortened.

I also find it odd, bizarre, and more than a bit creepy why certain groups instant on imposing their sexuality in kids' media. I don't care what you do what to whom behind closed doors, it's not my business, stop making it my business

I find it odd, bizarre, and more than a bit creepy that your focus on the sex part of sexual orientation and gender identity representation in children's media is very telling and not what members of the LGBT+ community are advocating for...

I mean Disney films have almost gone a century depicting heterosexual relationships without depicting sexual content, I don’t know why people think they can’t with a same-sex relationships either.

This. Not that hard to understand. No one’s trying to shoehorn anything anywhere LGBTQ+ people exist and their stories deserve to be told just the same as any other story. Just because you don’t identify as LGBTQ+ doesn’t mean you can’t identify with their experiences.

absolutely! there's no need to be an absolutely massive bigot about it. it's like what Thumper in Bambi says..

"if you can't say something nice, don't say it at all."

Ahh of course, how silly of me, all opinions are valid, unless you have the alternative one. Then shut up, we don't want to hear it

You're missing the point. None of these classic Disney characters you speak of were hetrosexual. Nor were they gay or anything. About the only tag you could place on them was that they were perhaps male and female. And that was it. They were not placing any emphasis on these characters in that manner at all. There were no hashtags or labels for Ariel, Snow White, Pinocchio, Bambi, or any of the others.

But again, they are shoehorning things into these movies. They are trying to have hashtags and labels on these characters when they don't need to be. Let the characters do the talking, not the labels. A person's experiences in life cannot be defined by a hashtag or a label.

Nope, no heterosexuality here at all...

And I believe you're conflating sexual orientation with sexual identity. While they're related, they are two different concepts.

Yes. PART is the keyword. People are much more than just a label or a hashtag. They're too complex to be confined to one thing. And you start telling a story with a label or a hashtag, you've already confined your character. And that's not good storytelling. I don't want movies to tell my story based on one thing. I'm more than that one thing. That's the point that seems to be getting missed. We are the sum of ALL of our parts.
