Default The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007)

This film has a special place in my heart as it really opened my eyes to the various aspects and qualities of film. Also as to what great things I could stumble upon by taking the time to look around.

I randomly recorded this film and a bunch of others when my family first got a digital recording system for our satellite TV. It made catching films on the movie channels waaaaay more obtainable. So I set up to record a bunch of different flicks, I liked Brad Pitt, I didn’t mind a western setting, so why not.

I was not expecting the cinematic perfection that was delivered to me; the acting, the score, the cinematography, things I’d never really considered or thought about in regards to my viewing experience, instantly I was drawn to all of it. It’s my all-time favourite stand alone film and I will always remember the world it opened me up to as I never looked at movies or TV the same way again.
So I’d love to get this in my 4K collection.

One of my favorite westerns. The saddest thing is that this film was finished at 4K and we desperately need a new master; that 25GB, VC-1 encode hasn't been the kindest to time. It'd be great if we got the 4 hour cut or at the very least the deleted scenes as a bonus feature.

Highly doubt WB will do anything with this, so your best bet is one of the boutique labels, and I don't think any of them do 4K yet anyway. Best you can hope for is a BD remaster (which I would gladly take).

What With Shout getting a WB deal and dipping their toes in 4K with nature docs, there could definitely be a potential release from them.

Oh please, I need this gem on UHD.

It's my favorite film along with "Blade Runner" (Final Cut) and "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly".

Apparently it's available in a 4K DCP.

Yes, for years. The movie was 4K mastered back in 2007.

I doubt we get it since this movie bombed so bad at the box office and has such a limited appeal.

Even though Renner is in this one, it's never interested me enough in buying it. I'm not even sure the Husband would like it since he's never mentioned it to me. He's usually pretty good about telling me what he likes.

I like it, but it's very Terrence Malick inspired. Which means most people will not be that interested in it.

This would be a Day 1 for me. There’s a reason I don’t own the BD of it. While it bests the DVD (obviously), a 15 mbps encode on a BD-25 for a 160 minute movie is unacceptable. Add in the fact it is Native 4K (based on what’s been said above), and this would be one hell of an upgrade. I need to see that train robbery in 4K and HDR. That could be a demo moment.
