Putting HDR10 data into a Dolby Vision container can make the Colors have less “pop” Also you are limited to 4:2:2 instead of full fat 4:4:4 RGB so you are not taking full advantage of the 40GB bandwidth the Xbox SX has to offer.

You should be able to leave it on. Depending on your TV/Display.

I leave it on.. on my LG which is an HDMI 2.1 TV without issue. Xbox SX gives me 10-bit Color / 4 Lanes RGB @ 120hz UHD Resolution.

I wish my PS5 could do that.

I noticed recently when streaming 4k content on my SX that the color becomes dull and faded.

I attempted to watch a 4k disc last night for the first time on the console and the picture quality was faded a dull. I took out the disc and replaced it with the regular blu and the picture quality looked normal.

I'm not a tech savvy person so I'm just very confused why 4k streaming and 4k discs make the picture look worse.

Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated.

It could be the HDR. You might need to calibrate your tv for HDR settings

So, I haven't watched 4K or Blu-Ray movies on my XBOX Series X. Today, I put a Blu-Ray (not 4K) into it to check it out while I did some cleaning and it wouldn't play. I tried 2 other Blu-Ray discs...they didn't play.

I was a bit worried and then put in Thor on 4K and it played just fine.

Anyone else have any trouble playing specifically Blu-Ray discs??? Seems like a weird problem to have.

Note: the discs play just fine on my dedicated player in the other room and on my PS4 too.

The Blu-ray app itself is awful, but I never once had a problem watching a Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray.

I watched Casablanca 4K yesterday and it played with no problems.

No troubles on the Xbox One X, too.

Yeah I mainly had ran into issues with the Xbox One X playing some movies I had. The Shining on 4K it couldn't play but my Series X could.

Any rumors, whispers, etc. of a mid-life hardware refresh for XSX with more power like we saw in previous generation or even simply a hardware refresh with respect to cosmetics like we saw with the 360 generation? I don't think the multiple SKU's of the 360 actually added more power, just drastically changed the look of the console over the years.

Hi-Fi Rush didn't set the landscape on fire (despite being a good game) and besides that there's Redfall. Then further out is Starfield which I don't see as a system seller. Xbox is the AEW in the console space. Taking care of their base but not doing anything to attract new folks or give them a reason to pick up an Xbox.

I want the Hellblade sequel. Redfall, never had interest, nor did the devs.

Shame this far into the gen & Xbox clearly has the more powerful system yet software is meh. Oh well, you can’t buy talent I suppose.

The Alpha Skip Ahead Insider Ring got a new home screen design today and I have to say they've listened to some of the criticism. Looks less like an ad and you can see more of your background.

Alpha Rings as well. You'll need to reboot your console to see it.

I think it’s just what you’re into. And how much time you have to game. The only thing that’s made me turn on my PS5 for more than a day was to platinum God of War: Ragnarok. And I found it to be nowhere near as fulfilling as 2018 God of War. While I realize it was still a good game, it actually really disappointed me and that disappointment definitely negatively affected my experience and opinion of it.

The majority of 3rd party games are hitting both systems, and between Game Pass and my backlog, I’m never finding myself with a lack of games to play. In fact, I’m still finding myself overwhelmed with gaming options and I do probably 95% of my gaming on my Series X.
