When the two previous films came out, I watched those. I've since really wanted to watch this one to round out the trilogy, but have pointedly avoided buying the BD, in hopes this would happen.

First title from scratch is a bit concerning given it's Shout but still great news. Hope it uses the OG poster like They Live is doing.

Also noticed they got Fire and Ice which I assume would be the Bakshi/Frazetta film. That'll be cool if that's the case.

Fire and Ice is coming from Blue Underground, who also released the most recent BD.

People will probably still call it a "sad quarter" for releases because it's all "old movies". **** 'em, this kind of thing is what UHD was made for.

Excellent news. Since this is the theatrical cut, we will even get those missing seconds, not featured on the International/Director's version, finally on great HD (they are from the Tiny Ashes sequence).

So it says they are doing a new 4K remaster, which will be interesting to see what they are working with. It could be Universal providing the negatives for the theatrical version, which would be great, since they had to kind of frankenstein that version a bit for their Blu-Ray edition.

There's a lot of possibilities here-- if they remaster the U.S cut from Universal, they could do the reverse of what they did last time, with the option of the international cut from the new 4K, this time piecing in the previous 4K scan of the IP when necessary for that version. I'm not even sure what source they used for the Director's Cut, but I would guess it was an older HD master and all that footage would need to be remastered as well.

Or they might do none of those things and it's just an UHD disc of the theatrical cut, with or without the other Blu-Rays thrown in. I'd still pick it up if the transfer was good.

The only thing I would hope for is Universal would find the delete scenes used in the TV cut and they can just add them even if it's in 1080p.
