Disappointed to find out that the Directors Cut is not in 4K. I have no use for Theatrical cuts if there is a longer Directors Cut. So, I just paid (it just arrived yesterday) for a version of the movie in 4K I don't care about. Tired of them forcing the posters with these too, I literally have 20 of their posters now that will never be used.

Director's cut aint always better IMO.

It's my least favourite cut of AoD. Most of the time when the studios interfere they make a hash of it, but I think the changes made for the theatrical were right in this case. Fans of the S-Mart ending are legion.

That's not to say I don't think the DC should be available to see - of course it should. I love that there are 3 different cuts of this movie, each with it's own pros and cons, to be watched depending on mood. I'd hate to limit myself to just one cut. I also hate it when the studios sit on the DC and don't let anyone see it - for years I've wanted to see the original directors cut of The Avengers (1998). Now I don't expect a better film necessarily, but Warner really screwed that movie over, making what was probably a poor film just plain bad.

You can just wait until the posters sell out before buying them. Of get them from a retailer that isn't Shout.

If you don't want them...sell them. Hell, I might buy some of them off you if they're for a reasonable price. PM me and let me know what you have.

Watched the theatrical cut today, and WOW, does it look good.

Yeah, it still has the heavy grain during optical composites, but the color and detail are off the charts. A big upgrade over the previous SF Blu.

I made my own medievil dead cut that combines evil dead 2 andmixes the director's cut with the best lines from the theatrical cut and leaves the through ending in. I wanted to re-do it in 4K but they didn't give us the director's cut and the still need to fix the groovy scene in Evil Dead 2. But yeah the theatrical cut is what I watch the most.

For those of you that got the poster, how do you find a frame to hang it since it's such an odd size (28.5" x 16.5”)?

Same thing with Battle Beyond the Stars.

EDIT: Sorry, I see that the non-steel book poster is 18x24 (standard size), but the Steelbook artwork is still the goofy size.

Yeah, but it doesn't even fit a standard size proportionally. I worked in a framing store for 8 years, so I know the drill, but all the cheap stuff we sold back then is long gone, and now you have to pay 4x as much to get something at Michael's.

We used to sell metal frames to the inch in pairs - you buy the pairs you need, glass was cheap, foam board backing, mat - $30. I priced it out to $130. No thanks.

I don't know why Shout uses these odd sizes.

I received this, Scream 2 4K, and the Halloween 4K collection.

Very brief comments after just finishing it. I’ll try to have a full review tomorrow:

Looks pretty darn great, not perfect, but definitely a good upgrade. The effects become more obvious but can’t fault it for this as that is just the source. My only, small, complaint is there is mild print damage throughout. But overall it looks great. Right now I’d give it a 4.5/5. This was in Dolby Vision. Again, I’ll try to go into more detail tomorrow.

I don’t care if I’m bringing it up again but the evil dead and evil dead 2 really need updated transfers it can use the same scan I don’t that think needs a redo but the hdr and audio needs fixes.
