It’s a BD-100. Confirmed on Bandai Visual’s website.

It could only have been a BD-100 anyway.

Why couldn’t it have been a BD-66?

The Hypersonic mix. Since Bandai is doing it at 24-bit, it’ll likely be the same size and bitrate of their BD with it. On the 2009 Bandai BD, it was 14.34 mbps for just that ONE audio track. In terms of file size, 13.5 GB. It still could’ve been on a BD-66, but the video bitrate would have to be reduced by a large bit.

Yeah Youtube compression but there are some interesting color differences in the trailer.

More image but a bit too bright. Still not making the leap to 4k anytime soon but wonder if the blu-ray will show any improvement. Hope they include the original audio mix as that would be a nice bonus and the only way that I prefer to watch movies if at all possible.

Is the OST in hi rez? I have the CD and with them upgrading the movie's soundtrack will they release this in a better audio quality like SACD or DVD audio?

The OST is available in hi-res digital download formats that pretty much anyone can enjoy. The record label that handles the soundtrack isn't into SACD and it's pretty much a dead format that is high-niche at this point, so it makes no sense to release the music on that format.

The same places you find other HD audio download offerings. Every online store has it, some in multiple formats. HDTracks is a good place to go.

Multi-format; https://www.hdtracks.com/akira-origi...undtrack-album

Make sure you have a PC or audio hardware that can handle whatever format you decide to get.

The rule of thumb is that the older music is where the treasures are, because it's been remastered from analog elements, while the newer music is digitally recorded and usually mastered at quality that is no better or slightly better than what CD and regular digital audio already offers. The easiest way to enjoy the HD audio files is to get a portable digital audio player that can handle whatever format you choose and the best headphones you can afford that are designed to handle HD audio. The HIDIZS player line is the best place to start if you are on a budget and want something easy and simple, while others go up in price and build-quality. You can find their offerings on Amazon.
