It was part of the original movie though!!!! It's just another part of my childhood that Disney has ruined. I don't think life is bearable anymore now.

In the UK edition of the 4K Signature collection it appears they are re-issuing the original UK Blu-ray with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio.

If it matches the press release the US is getting a remastered Blu-ray alongside the 4K version that both utilize the 1.66:1 transfer. Once we have the back shots of the 4K and Blu-ray packaging we should be able to confirm.

I don't think the people involved in making the decision care much about a very small group of people upset with it. 99.9% don't care or don't know. Compared to their "bottom line" and the right decisions they need to make, it's nothing.

Sleeping Beauty is coming out on September 24th on the Disney Signature label but unfortunately not in 4K.

Oh, okay! Why don't they release these titles in 4K in the UK?

The way Disney cuts controversial content from their films just makes me wonder what's going to be cut next. In 20 years when the political winds have shifted, there might be a whole new set of no fly zones requiring them to cut even more/different content. It could be things we deem completely harmless as of right now, but in 20 years you just never know.

Nothing “major”, but you know the outtakes they made up that play during the end credits? They cut out a bit that involves Prospector talking to two Barbie dolls that was apparently too reminiscent of “casting couch” situations that have been a big part of media scandals lately.

On the one hand, I can see why they’d do that... given everything that happened with John Lassetter, but on the other hand, I, myself, am very against censorship (no matter how small). And with something like this, I don’t just see “a 25-second fake outtake being removed”, I see “with digital media, studios have access to your movies all the time. If they decide they don’t want you to see anything anymore, they can take it away like that”.

I'm not going to worry about what might happen in 20 years from now. That's way too far away to even think about. Besides, a lot of us may not even be around by then.

Here's the Back Cover!

This confirms that the Signature Collection Blu-ray will be remastered alongside the 4K disc as well
since the aspect ratio has changed to 1.66:1 from the previous 1.85:1 aspect ratio on the Diamond Edition release.

I'm young enough that I will be here in 20 years unless some major disaster befalls me. :P

Why would a digital film be DNR'ed?

Like Lion King this is being Remastered from the original animated CAPS files. It will look fantastic as it will show the full resolution of the film as animated and then is upscaled. Here we are getting the full animated aspect of 1.66:1. Should be a major upgrade from the previous Blu-ray which cropped to 1.85:1 and had quite a bit of unnecessary edge-enhancement applied which caused stair-stepping.

There is no DNR to be applied as the film is already completely digital and does not have grain. The 4K Digital Version will be available Tuesday for review - Ya'll are in for a treat.
