There is only one Blu-Ray release of the Z series.

There's original (uncut), and there's Kai. Both cover the Z series. I was asking for opinions between the uncut Blu-rays, and the Kai Blu-rays.

Well when people say Z, they mean Z, not Kai.

The 30th anniversary set will probably be the best DBZ blu-ray release. (Not counting the canned level sets.)

But I remember hearing music issues due to copyright infringement on early releases, and something about aspect ratio when it comes to "The Final Chapters."

So I was looking for opinions. I understand there's no perfect release, and so I can't be a purist if I wanted to be with any release out at this point in time. I just would like to know, both as a brand new experience if I were to show it to others and coming back to it as a fan of the franchise, which would be a better purchase and watch overall if I could only get one or the other?
If you only intend to watch dub then Kai for sure, if you wanna experience it as pure as possible in Japanese then the 30th anniversary set is the only other option besides the current Z blu rays. The audio wont sound good tho but like you said no perfect release of DBZ exists on blu ray. If you go for Kai try to get parts 1-4 with the original intended score if you can. Kai Boo saga is widescreen cropped, had a green tint, and has a poor english audio mix. Despite the flaws I think Kai is the best way to watch the show from an English perspective. The cast also flows more coherently with Super.

the dub only has like 8 or so episodes before it ends too. Im hoping a full bluray set wont be far behind. I'll get it month 1. hopefully before years end.

A full Blu-ray? You mean all of the episodes in one release? I'd be pretty surprised to see that happen.

Aggreed. Funi's MO has been to release larger 'value' type sets a bit after the smaller releases end. They'll probably have 2 sets in one. I don't see a full series set coming--unless it's just some repackage boxset of the releases that already exist.

Is there ever a good time to get these on sale? Wasn't sure if they dropped in price much.

I've seen them bundled together on a Funimation shop sale before. I don't remember the pricing, think it was only the first 5 or so sets.
